IN HARM'S WAY - Even though roadside explosive devices account for half of all the war's U.S. casualties, soldiers are still getting killed and wounded by them because the Pentagon hasn't provided enough fully-armored vehicles to protect them. Steve Kroft reports.

Frankly, although I think 60 Minutes sucks too, I think this report is valid and can only shine light on a situation that is inexcusable.
Of course the timing of the report is, dare I say, suspect! :)

I've seen several posts from hipaatwo. Not a troll. Put the ZOT! wand away.

My understanding is that CBS plans to go trick-or-treating dressed up as a news organization.
To: hipaatwo
I was mad as hell, but you know what? Who watches and takes them seriously now, especially after Rathergate, I think people will see CBS for what they are. Plus everyone will be trick or treating or watching scary movies; well I guess 60 minutes could count as a scary movie :}

Every time I hear someone in the Kerry campaign or his MSM boot licker's say anything about armor. I think of Kerry voting against funding the troops. I think I am not alone.

Thank you for posting this. I saw it in a similar article by The New York Post.
http://www.nypost.com/news/nationalnews/31324.htm
I have emailed the conservative talk shows that I could think of so and encourage others to write the conservative media and blogs for possible discussion. Hopefully it can be completely discussed and 'an old story' by Sunday night's 60 Minutes Show.
If anyone has any related stories on our soldiers' body armor we should link them together for easy reference.

No problem. I think we're all a little on edge right now seeing the MSM try to run over Bush like a tank.

Sure, that would be a fine public service, except that
60 Minutes plans to link the equipment shortage to Bush tax cuts. No kidding:
Also yesterday, CBS, which had planned to break the explosives story on "60 Minutes" on Sunday 36 hours before the election said it now plans to run a story on the show charging that U.S. troops were sent to Iraq without proper body armor because of Bush's tax cuts, a charge often leveled by Kerry.
...and that's the Washington Post reporting this, (see
this article, 2nd-to-last paragraph).
To: hipaatwo
This is the first war EVER where all troops are supposed to travel in fully armored vehicles. While it certainly would be nice, Humvees are a HECK of a lot better than the old Jeeps that used to be the common mode of transportion.
Maybe we should go back to these??
To: hipaatwo
This is the best they've got? Complaining about a military without armor while their moron guy Kerry voted AGAINST giving funding? What genius thought that this would sway anyone? I mean if someone is media enough to watch 60 minutes then they probably ALSO watched at least one of the debates and Kerry voting against that provision was made fairly clear. Man now we KNOW they're scraping the bottom of the barrel. What next? Bush once flicked his kitten's nose?
