I don't think the Iraqis and the Russians are that good that they can sneak out over an estimated 40 heavy trucks from this arms dump and drive it all the way to Syria without getting caught. The story is not plausable to me. Russian mercenary advisors? Possible - whole transfers out of Iraq on the eve of invasion? If this story is true (and for some reason Freepers who jumped on this story don't make this connection) then Bush admin screwed up in A) making nice with Putin and B) Not being able to detect the move or C) They knew what Russia was up to and allowed it to happen (just in case someone throws that theory into the ring).

Well, I agree that they could not have moved 40 trucks out while we were in there-which is enough to discredit what is being claimed by skerry.
However, the WSJ article I referred to was several months prior to the invasion, and I do believe that lots and lots of stuff left in those convoys-but I of course have no proof. The WSJ is one of the few old media papers for which I still have some respect. Of course I do recall reading other similar articles, but I do not recall the source of those.
As to the Russians they may have been Russian Mafia, Russian Mercenaries, Former Russian KGB, I do not make a distinction between these groups and any others in Russia.
My memory is not what it used to be and I do not recall which segment of Russia I read about-hence I just said Russia-sorry to be imprecise.
