PENNSYLVANIA: SANTORUM, WESTERN PA LEADERS TO HOLD FRIDAY 9AM PRESS CONFERENCE (SLAP RENDELL)

Posted on 10/28/2004 6:33:07 PM PDT by hipaatwo

Today on the Sean Hannity program Senator Rick Santorum and Governor Ed Rendell disputed whether or not Pennsylvania should extend the deadline for military absentee ballots. Rendell said he would be reaching his final decision Friday, and would be appearing on Hannity's program later that day to field questions.

Word was just received that Senator Rick Santorum and other local Western PA leaders will be holding a press conference tomorrow as well with a bombshell of their own. Santorum's press conference will take place at 9AM in front of the Allegheny County Courthouse (Pittsburgh) with Congresswoman Melissa Hart, Congressman Tim Murphy, and State Senator John Pippy.

According to a release obtained from Pippy's office, Frank Bondy, father of Pennsylvania Army National Guard member Naomi Bondy of Bridgeville will take part in urging Governor Rendell to grant an extension. Naomi Bondy is now serving in Iraq.

"Mr. Bondy said he received his daughter's absentee ballot in Bridgeville on October 26 and immediately forwarded it to her APO address," states the release. "However, unless the balloting extension is granted, PFC Bondy – a registered Allegheny County voter – will be disenfranchised."

"At the very least, we should take the imminently reasonable step of extending a deadline by two weeks in order to ensure that our fellow citizens now serving in uniform like PFC Bondy can participate in this election and enjoy one of the most basic rights of citizenship," states Senator Pippy in the release.

Other elected officials joining the press conference are State Senator Jane Clare Orie, state Representatives Mark Mustio, Thomas Stevenson and Mike Turzai.

Watch out. Rendell may extend the deadline in such a way that allows everyone a two week extension, giving the dems and soros 2 extra weeks to steal the state if need be.

I'm glad somebody's doing something. I don't think the polls matter that much in some states; I'm concerned with voter fraud in Florida (Broward County - the 58,000 absentee ballot fiasco) and in Ohio (many more people registered to vote than are eligible). We cannot put up with this.

Yes, it sounded like that. The gov said something like, So, do you think everyone overseas should get the extension, or just the military? That's where it will probably go.

R.J. Harris (good guy) on WHP-580 AM in the morning gave Fast Eddie Rendell a reaming out over this issue. He and others caution Rendell that he jeopardizes a second term as Governor if he doesn't straighten up and fly right.

IMHO, I think Rendell's mission upon running for Governor was to saturate The Commonwealth with gambling. He has been pretty successful, so far. And while a second term might be nice for his ego, I think his financial future will be well taken care of by the gambling interests whose bidding he did upon assuming office.

Also, if his stonewalling on absentee ballots results in PA falling to Kerry, he'll have another big IOU that he can call in sometime in the future. So I don't think it matters to him whether he's elected to a second term or not.

Exactly, the real question is why these ballots didn't go out sooner. Did other absentee ballots go out and military got held? Or were all absentee ballots late and why? Fry rendell rather than extend deadlines.

It is federal law about military ballots being allowed to come in 10 days after the voting as long as the ballots were completed by 7:00 p.m. on election day. Individuals overseas do not fall under the same act.

We went through this with the Florida deal when the military ballots were thrown out. Those despicable RATs threw out ballots as some were postmarked on the outer envelope in Miami -- they refused to open them up to see the date of the affadavit inside -- outside envelope had no bearing since it was postmarked Miami. I will always believe the Clinton Administration ordered those postmarks.

They didn't go out sooner because the Dems were busy in court getting Nader off the ballot. Now that they've succeeded there isn't enough time to get the ballots to the military and get them back in time.

Getting Nader of the ballot required an army of lawyers. That's the military he cares about.

Where oh where is Senator Arlen Specter's voice in this issue. With him being up for another re-election, he should be blasting Rendell also.

Arlen can't speak out on this. He would tick off half of his base - DemocRATs.

Interesting, it told me "2 is not a valid option". Said all ballots mailed in accordance with Pennsylvania law. Absentee ballots must be received by tomorrow for all races other than Presidential and by Tuesday for Presidential. Refers us to www.votespa.com

The Senator's actions are not just about extending the deadline. They are about making this a high profile issue and beating the Democrats over the head with it as a means to influence Pennsylvania voters to vote Bush. sort of like, our sons and daughters who are fighting in Iraq are being denied the right to vote for Bush, so you do it for them and show the Governor.

(two red-blooded law-and-order states)

Besides, Kerry's "Lambert Field" and THK's calling Packer fans drinkers like she's never seen before.

That may loose her Steeler fan votes, too!

Am I glad you posted this! I caught the tail end of the Hannity/rendell exchange and it sounded like Sean was ripping Guv Ed a new one! The Guv was on a cell phone but he seemed lost, couldn't respond to Sean.

I'll be really suprised if he shows up on the show today! I wouldn't miss it for ANYTHING!

Then as someone else pointed out I'm sure if Guv Ed does make an extension he'll do it some slimey way that will allow ratz to keep voting, perhaps several times over and from the grave.

If the election is close (I don't think it will be) a 2 week extension could really open the door to tons of rat fraud.

"...not just about extending the deadline. They are about making this a high profile issue and beating the Democrats over the head with it as a means to influence Pennsylvania voters to vote Bush."

EXCELLENT! Ya know that just might work!

Where I live in the 'burbs of the 'burgh the ratz will vote for Kerry. However the polls seem to show the "T" - Harrisburgh north to the state line and Erie to Scranton West to East are really motivated to get out the vote for W.

Iy >might< even be enough to offset the rat fraud in Allegheny County and Philly!

A W win in PA would be SOOOOO SWEEET and the ratz where I live would be apoplectic! COOL!
