Pa. soldiers file ballot action

The two seek a federal court order extending the deadline for overseas tallies to be received, counted.

HARRISBURG - Two soldiers from Pennsylvania serving abroad filed a motion in federal court yesterday to force the state to accept overseas absentee ballots received after Tuesday's election.

Without an extension, U.S. Army Specs. Matthew J. Schramm of Schwenksville, Montgomery County, and Steven J. Reitz of Venango County, probably won't have their votes counted, according to the court petition filed by lawyers with the Republican State Committee.

"With the war in Iraq a major issue in this election, it is especially imperative that the members of the military actually waging that war have their votes counted," according to the motion, which asks the court to extend the absentee ballot deadline until Nov. 17.

Ballots are just now going out. Military haven't received them yet, they must be back by Oct 29, (TOMORROW) to be counted, by Tuesday to count in presidential election only. In the article, Rendell said he would not support extending the deadline unless he saw evidence of voter disenfranchisement. ME: If ballots come back after the deadline and aren't counted, isn't that evidence of disenfranchisement? Read the article. More: Republicans wonder why Rendell supported a court motion last spring to allow a similar extension but is opposing this one. (I wonder?)

That b@st@ard Rendell. I sure hope the people of PA remember when he is doing to our brave men and women protecting us from terror.

God bless them.

May the Good People (Sean, Rush, Laura, Neal, Mark L., etc) keep this on the front burner and in the public spotlight!

The head Doms of the DNC are probably ordering it.

I admit that I don't know much about Rendell--I live in Florida.

Rendell called into Hannity's radio show today. Hannity was in Philly, and Rendell said something like (paraphrased) 'Santorum has only been able to find two circumstances' of overseas military who will be disenfranchised.

Well, with all due respect, Governor, that is TWO TOO MANY, and he knows there are more to come.

That said, this can't be helping Kerry. Any PA FReepers who can say whether this is a big issue there or not?

Even 2000 had more content.

It must be tough for Bush's people - how does one effectively respond to Kerry who's basic strategy is to name call and insinuate, and when that's pointed out his rapid action teams are within minutes reaccusing Bush of the same?

Really, I've never seen the press so biased, beyond slant into collaboration.

Rendell said he would not support extending the deadline unless he saw evidence of voter disenfranchisement.

Tell the blacks in Detroit, the gays in San Francisco and Cubans in Miami that their votes can't be counted until Weds. and therefore won't count. Then let's talk about disenfranchisement. They've screwed the military out of their vote long enough.

It is not the election as much as it is the other sides antics and deceit.

Unparalleled tactics have removed any lines that were previously drawn.

Law and order may be the next casualty.

It looks like Fast Eddie Rendell screwed the Kerry campaign with his attempted vote fraud against PA military personnel. The signs are all out there showing the Dems are in complete chaos. Hillary must be getting more giddy as we approach Tuesday.

Sorry to say this hasn't gotten big yet. My gut says its all up to the local news editors. If they cover it we could win big. Otherwise, the sheeple may sleep through it.

I heard ... Rendel knows he is trouble over this and that is why he wouldn't answer Sean's question about standing up for the troops till tomorrow after the court hearing

This is Fast Eddie's way to deflect the issue

I've said this on other threads about this subject already --so forgive me for repeating.

But why doesn't someone in military or PA governor ask Fred Smith, the owner of FedEx, to transport the ballots and bring them back on one of his jets?

Fred Smith has contributed his planes for lots of charitable duties through the years. And he even sent a FedEx plane to go pick up the two pandas in China for the Memphis Zoo.

Surely he would donate for this cause!! Someone in authority needs to ask him (if it's not too late already).

Does anyone know a top PA official or military person who might contact Fred about this??
