Bush deserves second term
IN OUR OPINION
Almost an entire presidential election season has been taken up with debate over a war occurring half a world away.
Closer to home, there are a great many issues facing Tennesseans and the country as a whole.
Based on his administrations handling of the war against terrorism and values more in line with average Tennesseans than his opponents, The Lebanon Democrat endorses President George W. Bush for re-election. This election season has arguably been the nastiest and hardest fought in the history of American presidential politics.
In truth, many of the issues brought out by both campaigns appear to have little to do with the lives of average Americans. Of course, war is one human endeavor that is easy to criticize and even easier to find fault in the way it is prosecuted.
However, the focus of the Bush administrations first four years has been on the No. 1 threat to our countrys safety and sovereignty, acts of terrorism. There is very little room to argue that the attacks of September 11, 2001 did not change the very course of human history. It certainly changed the life of every American. The Bush administration has spent four years almost solely reacting to that cowardly act and trying to forge a defense and intelligence system that can thwart future attacks.

Here in Tennessee, we get it.
I love the south!
I wonder if the founders of the newspaper are spinning in their graves... : )
I am not sure. Most Southern Democrats took a look at the modern Democrats (communists and socialists) and became Republicans. I'm sure the founders were old time conservative Democrats who would be spinning in their graves at what the party has become.
HEY FREEPERS...HERE IS AN UPDATE TO THE WACO TRIBUNE AND HERALD endorsing Kerry fiasco.
There is now a boycott going on........a lot of it from businesses that advertise with them.
I spoke with a person I know who does extensive work for the Trib.
Said person told me that, since the paper is the biggest paper in the County that Bush is from (also where I have family), Democrats had met with the paper's management as far back as a year ago....and it was decided then that they would endorse whoever ran against Bush.
Since there is a lot of old democrap money in Waco, I am inclined to trust the person I spoke with.
But now they are paying for it. More Republicans in the area now. The County has been swinging to Republican more and more.
