Demand Release of Political Prisoners, End to Repression
Demand the release of all political prisoners in Haiti and the stop of government repression against Lavalas supporters: Date: 10/6/04
Haiti is experiencing a massive, violent upsurge in government repression against the Lavalas movement, government critics, human rights activists and supporters of President Jean-Bertrand Aristide. The number of unwarranted arrests has dramatically risen, while police conducts more raids and uses force against unarmed demonstrators.
On Saturday October 2nd, 2004, Haitian police forcibly entered a private radio station, Radio Caribe, where three leading Lavalas parliamentarians had denounced political violence on air. The three individuals former Senators Yvon Feuillé and Gerard Gilles, and former Deputy Rudy Hérivaux were arrested without a warrant, which violates the detainees rights under the Haitian Constitution. Lawyer Axéne Joseph, also a former deputy, was arrested when he protested the other arrests.
When lawyers demanded that Judge Amboise produce a warrant, as required by the Haitian Constitution, the judge refused on the grounds that the arrests were an authorized, verbal order from the Chief Prosecutor. Judge Amboise then refused to state the charge against the defendants. The October 2nd arrests follow a sharp upturn in warrantless arrests and attacks against critics of the interim governments human rights policies.
Additional violations and attacks have recently taken place: - Haitian police raided the offices of the Confederation of Haitian Workers (CTH) labor union and arrested nine union workers, all without a warrant. - Men in military attire attacked the office of the Committee for the Protection of the Rights of the Haitian People (CDPH). - The police interrupted a legal demonstration commemorating the anniversary of Haitis 1991 coup detat and fired upon unarmed demonstrators. - Dozens of other Lavalas activists have been illegally arrested within the past few days.

Do the Haitians have enough money to "interest" Annan and the UN or Kofi's son?
Kerry will put Aristide back into power if elected.
"Do the Haitians have enough money to "interest" Annan and the UN or Kofi's son?"
They interest our enemies because of their strategic location.
Bump...
"Kerry will put Aristide back into power if elected."
And he will do so with US troops...he even declares that he will do it with or without UN approval!!! It's amazing the lengths Kerry will go to preserve a Communist dictatorship!!!...has changed a bit since his Winter Soldier days.
"Those arrested resisted violently, painfully hitting the fists and feet of LEOs with divers parts of their bodies. Some LE equipment, notably police batons, was damaged beyond repair."
lol...GSlob, your cinicism knows no bounds!
