I saw the photo on Fox News Channel.

It is two trucks outside a bunker at Al Qaqaa two days before the start of the war (so about March 17). To be precise, it shows the trucks, not the explosives being loaded into them, but it demonstrates that transportation of that type was there before we began military operations in Iraq (and remember, Saddam had a deadline, so he had an idea of what kind of timetable he had to work with).

There are more photos, this one has been declassified in order to be shown to the public.

I fear you are right. That video and photos are pretty damning as to the material being there in mid April. We'll see.

Isn't THIS what Powell showed the U.N. PRIOR to war? Trying to get the U.N. to see how they needed to follow through with "serious consequences"?

I'm not sure. Powell spoke of trucks, but "Al Quaquaa" is not mentioned. He does mention a place called "Taji" and notes that there are over 65 munitions sites that they'd been watching.

But yes, Powell, at the very least, spoke about this type of moving around of stuff, even though this particular stockpile may not have been the highlighted part of his presentation.

ABC just showed tape of our troops opening bunkers supposedly at the desputed site and fininding those weapons.

We did find weapons there. We did not find *those* weapons. (UN sealed HMX and RDX)

From what I have heard so far, the Army went through the camp and left it unguarded. The inspectors didnt get there until a month after.

You've heard wrong.

3rd ID reaches it on April 3 and checks it because (despite the NYT and Kerry Kamp charges to the contrary) they had been informed this material was supposed to be there. They did not see it but found stockpiles of conventional weapons and lower grade explosives. They move on and the 101st arrives and over nights April 10-April 11 and looked around and did not see the stuff but moved on to Baghdad on their mission. May 8 our special teams arrive to do the thorough search specifically for the UN sealed material and does not find it. UN searches end of May---I want to say May 27---and they, too, see the stuff is gone.

We controlled the roads and skies and there is no way 38 semi trucks of explosives were moved under our noses.

I think that the tape ABC is showing is from a local news embedded reporter. If, indeed, this were Al QaQaa it might be damaging. However, as was noted earlier on a previous thread, the TV station does not know that the location shown is AQQ. They backtracked their logs and know that their reporter was in the vacinity at some point, but they cannot verify that this tape is definitively from AQQ.

Even if the ABC video pans out, if CNN is running tape of trucks leaving AQQ before the war that would cast doubt on at least the tonnage reported by the NYT.

One more note: We did bomb the place before troops arrived on the ground...

I saw the same video. What was the source of the tape and were they positive the video was shot at Al QaQaa on a specific date?

You might want to start a thread. I haven't seen any posts or replies besides yours.
