Take a step back - this isn't the way it's supposed to be. The news media has been the story for the entire week. They're not supposed to BE the news; they're supposed to cover it!

Reading between the lines, they don't have any big operations set to go off before the election.

You know, that's been puzzling me, too. When I was in journalism school, we were actually marked down for anything that might even RESEMBLE opinion. We were only the "conduit" from which news events flowed, my instructor said. We were only to report actual events in a manner that did not sway the audience.
Poor Old Mrs. Price is rolling in her grave at this point.
