AP NewsBreak: FBI begins investigating how Halliburton got Bush administration contracts
By JOHN SOLOMON
Associated Press Writer
WASHINGTON (AP) - The FBI has begun investigating whether the Pentagon improperly awarded no-bid contracts to Halliburton Co., seeking an interview with a top Army contracting officer and collecting documents from several government offices.

The line of inquiry expands an earlier FBI investigation into whether Halliburton overcharged taxpayers for fuel in Iraq, and it elevates to a criminal matter the election-year question of whether the Bush administration showed favoritism to Vice President Dick Cheney's former company.

FBI agents this week sought permission to interview Bunnatine Greenhouse, the Army Corps of Engineers' chief contracting officer who went public last weekend with allegations that her agency unfairly awarded a Halliburton subsidiary no-bid contracts worth billions of dollars in Iraq, according to documents obtained by The Associated Press.

but the A.P. stands for Atheist Propoganda!

CBS, ABC, New York Times, NBC, then A.P. hmmmmmm. the leftist radicalism is a bit too transparent, isn't it?

"Halliburton's earnings just came out. They are making a measly 0.3% return on the billions they have spent in Iraq."

Not to mention losing 30-40 employees in the war.

My understanding was that the only possible competitor for a lot of the Haliburton type of work was some French outfit. Unfortunatley I don't have that reference.

I was wondering when they were going to dust off the Haliburton and take it for a drive. It's a klunker, doofi. Let it go. You'll only be embarassed when it breaks down and you're forced to thumb a ride home.

Why did you title this thread as you did? The report says the FBI is investigating the Pentagon, not the Bush Administration.

You heard too? Breaking! Bush ARRESTED for DUI, snorting coke, giving the finger, doctoring campaign ads, giving halliburton preferential treatment, hurricanes in florida, and the enron scandal! I fully expect to hear that he was personally behind Martha Stewart's arrest as well!

Seriously - this will have no traction whatsoever. DESPERATION is setting in folks! The more stories you hear like this, I suggest you take it as a good sign as it gives me confidence that Bush is going to trounce Kerry.

No it won't. It's so obviously transparent. Especially after the Al Qaaqaa fiasco.

Anyhow, this is just an investigation. It's not an indictment of anyone...

Let's not laugh too much at this. It will be used post-election to dog the administration.

There's the rub. The media (CNBC, for example) is errantly reporting it as an investigation of the White House.

oh, great. I see Kerry's attack points for the next three or four days . . . . if the media is willing to run with the explosives non-story, they'll really go to town with this puppy.

The government awards no bid contracts all the time.

Time of the essence?
Got a contract with the government already?
We'll just amend your existing contract and avoid a lengthy bidding process and endless "protests"

Zzzzz...

Our company is pining for a no bid contract right now.

This was instigated by her and her lawyer in an attempt at an October surprise. I'm hoping it backfires big time.
