I thought this would be suitable to post today since the Red Sox won the World Series and the pitcher is a Bush voter and a patriot! This is an open letter to America from Curt Schilling, who pitches for the Boston Red Sox.

Nice work. I despise the Red Sox ... but had to admire Schilling gutting it out this postseason. And his comments on GMA, totally won me over.

That wonderful open letter deserves to be run on a thread everyday. He was able to put into words how it felt that day to be an American when we were attacked, and at the time of his writing, the short aftermath. A true American patriot whom I respect even more after reading the letter.
He was hurt the day he pitched in the Series, and was listed as doubtful for the game, if my memory serves me right. I think I heard that he had some type of procedure done in order to even have a chance at pitching. On the day he was to pitch while on the ride to the stadium folks encouraged/cheered him on, and their strength gave him the strength to pitch a great game.
It's a great analogy for the American Spirit. We encourage each other, and we give each other strength both individually and as one nation. We are fighters when provoked and will never rest until those responsible and their supporters are hunted down and captured or killed. Host nations beware, as you risk the same destiny as Saddam and his two sons. Two dead and the leader pulled out of a rathole looking like the hunted dog he was and is.
These 3 years later, his endorsement of Bush means the attacks on WTC and the Pentagon and the WOT itself are still very fresh and very much alive in his heart, as they are in the majority of American's hearts.
Congrats to Schilling, and the Red Sox for a job well done from one American to each member on the team.

Hmm, Schilling will be incredibly valuable in NH and Maine, IMO.
The man is one of the heroes of the Red Sox's victory, and he is an eloquent and fervent Bush backer.
