Frankly, it doesn't matter if "Churches" are allowed to pray for the defeat of Kerry. We who make up the churches can pray all we want, and that's all that matters!!

Churches subject themselves to the IRS restrictions voluntarily, for financial reasons. This is putting the government before God. It is saying "we will follow the Lord except in the cases where the government says we can't."

God does not need tax-exempt status in order for His church to be financially solvent. I think it would be a great act of faith for the Church to renounce tax-exempt status and proceed without any government constraints.

Daniel 6:10..."Now when Daniel learned that the decree had been published, he went home to his upstairs room where the windows opened toward Jerusalem. Three times a day he got down on his knees and prayed, giving thanks to his God, just as he had done before"

The IRS can go to hell. And Bush better not back this ruling. His core constituency is tired of the mind police. Time to scrap the tax code.

This is the sort of thing that will move this country to open civil war.

The IRS will NOT tell people how they can and cannot pray. And if they begin using tax exemption to do it, they will regret the day.

Pray for God's hand to guide the election. He'll know what you mean.

If the Feds would like to see some large-scale layoffs in their ranks, I suggest they stay on this course.

Clamping down (infringing) on the First Amendment will bring about some unintended consequences they may have failed to consider.

Like triggering the 'reset button' of the Second Amendment.

They can't stop us from praying privately.
They are saying that a prayer like that would be a public endorsement.
We can, however, pray publicly that the next president would be a candidate who honors God and will fight terrorism, abortion, and other dangers.

Yup. A 501C(3) corporation is just an agency or instrumentality of the guv. Government is your master.

Dear IRS:
I will pray for President George W. Bush to win this election whenever, wherever, however I choose -- especially in church. Come and get me.
PS: I wear two crosses and a guardian angel pendant. Will I get arrested for wearing those, as well??

Amen! Give it up and let them sweat. We must not allow ourselves to become subject to this government control. Besides, what will they really do? They can't sue every church everywhere without getting the whole country up at arms?

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe Pat Robertson did this to be free of any recourse.

God certainly does not need any help in preserving His church. But, the original concept was that the government HAD NO AUTHORITY TO TAX THE CHURCH, not that the church was exempt, but that the church supersedes the regulations of government.
