You won't believe it but I just got out of bed to read more about this developing story and was going to ping you.

Isn't this something? And if Gertz says it, we can take it to the bank.

I owe you a freepmail...tonight or tomorrow morning :-)

Official Suggests Iraq Hid Weapons in Syria October 29, 2003

Head of spy agency points to signs of heavy travel before U.S. invasion
WASHINGTON - The director of a top American spy agency said Tuesday that he believed that material from Iraq's illicit weapons program was transported into Syria and perhaps other countries as part of an effort by Iraqis to disperse and destroy evidence immediately before the recent war.

The official, James Clapper Jr., a retired air force lieutenant general, said satellite images showing a heavy flow of traffic from Iraq into Syria just before the American invasion in March had led him to believe "unquestionably" that illicit weapons material was moved outside Iraq.

Russian Convoy Caught In Crossfire

MOSCOW, April 7, 2003
(CBS) Russian diplomats who came under fire while trying to flee Iraq entered Syria on Monday, after leaving behind an injured diplomat in an Iraqi-controlled hospital, the Foreign Ministry said.

3) washingtom Times runs similar Story, source #3
http://www.washingtontimes.com/national/20041027-101153-4822r.htm

GERTZ // THURSDAY // WASH TIMES: Russian special forces troops moved many of Saddam Hussein's weapons and related goods out of Iraq and into Syria in the weeks before the March 2003 U.S. military operation, The Washington Times has learned. John A. Shaw, the deputy undersecretary of defense for international technology security, said in an interview that he believes the Russian troops, working with Iraqi intelligence, “almost certainly” removed the high-explosive material that went missing from the Al-Qaqaa facility, south of Baghdad.

*************** Yeehah...... way to Go Bill gertz, and a Thank You as well... game...Set....match.....

Not even the slimeball progressive liberals can spin this one....

Too much evidence....

2 out of 3 sources (2 of them liberal biased) concur... Russians moved the stuff....

Is Kerry going to apologize to our troops for suggesting they did not protect the armaments? Is the media going to ask for that apology from Mr Kerry? Certainly Mr Kerry should admit he made a mistake about our military, right? Surely he will jump to the front and apologize won't he? Bush can't admit he makes mistakes but surely Kerry will do just that. Expect it tomorrow.

Do ya think that perhaps President Bush was a little premature in reporting what he saw when he looked into Putin's soul?

Say the President was worried about Iraq using certain weapons against our troops, so he worked out a deal with Putin where those weapons were out of the country. Of course the President and Putin can't yet disclose this.

Ion Pacepa has been trying to tell us what really happened to the WMD all along...apparently no one was listening. http://frontpagemag.com/Articles/ReadArticle.asp?ID=10111

This is extraordinary. Did Kerry actually open the door to PROVING Iraq had WMD's and they were spirited away by Russia? Do you think Putin will admit it in the days to come? Talk about a SURPRISE.

The Russian embassy is calling this story "nonsense." I'd love to see Putin cooperate here in some kind of triple backstab spook operation.

Well how about THIS! The best part is the White House doesn't have to say ANYTHING about it! They just have to say "There is an ongoing investigation and we can't comment on it." Repeat it over and over.

Everyone and their brother will know what that means ... "We think the Russians did it"

Here's an article by a former Russian predicting that the Russians had taken WMD's
As a former Romanian spy chief who used to take orders from the Soviet KGB, it is perfectly obvious to me that Russia is behind the evanescence of Saddam Hussein's weapons of mass destruction. After all, Russia helped Saddam get his hands on them in the first place. The Soviet Union and all its bloc states always had a standard operating procedure for deep sixing weapons of mass destruction — in Romanian it was codenamed "Sarindar, meaning "emergency exit." I implemented it in Libya. It was for ridding Third World despots of all trace of their chemical weapons if the Western imperialists ever got near them. We wanted to make sure they would never be traced back to us, and we also wanted to frustrate the West by not giving them anything they could make propaganda with.

To: Just mythoughts

I can see a lot of reasons Russia might want these weapons. Most likely, Saddam "bought" them with a promise of huge oil contracts when sanctions were lifted. If Russia wasn't going to get paid for them, they would certainly want something that valuable back.

This may be an operation the Russians wanted to keep close to the vest. We'll see what Putin has to say.

I know, and I ache for him. How does he take all this? To have your very humanity questioned daily? Your legacy as a President being written by these jackels? Your family being smeared?

I pray for his strength and wisdom everyday.

8. Oh, please. Edited on Wed Oct-27-04 10:58 PM by ocelot About 40 big trucks would be needed to transport 350 tons of explosives. We were spying on Iraq with satellites long before the invasion started. So how did the Russian army smuggle 40 truckloads of stuff out of Iraq and we didn't discover it? Anyhow, isn't Vladimir George's best buddy?

The DUmmie has an interesting question. I have one for him

How did a bunch of "looters" manage to put together a 40 "big truck" convoy, right under our noses? Hmmmmmm?
