Kids,
Stand by. By midnight EDT there should be other versions of the ad posted -- all have the same content but some may better suit narrow bandwidths.
DON'T download the 22MB file -- it's interlaced video for TV. If you wasted time on that, sorry.

There's a story about Calvin Hill that is personal with me. I went to the Gilman School, a strong preparatory school in Baltimore. The Headmaster when I was there was Henry Callard, a deeply principled and highly respected man,
After the decision in Brown v. Board of Education he did something of great courage. That decision, of course, did nothing to integrate private schools. Henry Callard went to the Board and said, "I am going to integrate Gilman. And if the Board doesn't approve that, it can have my resignation."
Instead, some of the Board resigned. Callard stayed. My school changed. And one of the first students who came in was Calvin Hill. Later, his son Grant Hill also attended. Callard's example of principle and courage has remained with me all my life.

POP QUIZ:
Name the President [X] and the Bill [Y] to which the following Washington Post quote refers:
[X] did make one lighthearted reference to domestic matters today. Asked whether he would "reluctantly or wholeheartedly" sign new [Y] legislation, given his criticism of the bill, [X] said,
"It will be a signature. I won't hesitate. It will probably take about, you know, about three seconds to get to the '[Middle Initial]' I may hesitate on the period, and then rip through the '[Surname]' "
(Oh, please don't kill him ... this Strict Constitutionalist was just kidding. Kinda.)ANSWER KEY |
