Buckner has said it was the mediots who were harder on him than the fans.

So its LaRussa who is causing Rollens, Edmonds, and Renterrias batting slumps, not to forget Suppan's base running? I just hope they win at least one game to show the country what brought them to the Series. All I know is that we make the post-season pretty often and then do nothing much when we get there.

I think the Boston pitching staff is so confident right now, and conversley the SL staff is so deflated that I would like to think the Sox really have a great chance of finishing this tonight. They are riding a colossal wave of confidence and their bats have been steady thus far.
Go Sox!

Chris Carpenter (who got you home field in the playoffs), and a great catch from Edmonds in Game 7 of the NLCS brought you to the WS.

There's the answer!!
Even the Bambino couldn't think of all eventualities.
One more game, and then I hope to say "Congrats" to all you long-suffering Sox fans. Even as a johnny-come-lately-I-hate-the-Yankees fan of the Red Sox myself, I find great satisfaction in what's transpired so far.

The gameplan isn't too complicated. Steal Game 1 with Wake on the mound, win the two starts from Pedro and Curt, be as patient at the plate against the Cards as you have been all season. That's the plan. It's not more complicated than that. They compared Game 7 of the NLCS to WS Game 3 last night. Astros hitters were chasing balls in the dirt (same exact pitches), but we weren't, so Suppan had to get the ball higher to get the strike-- and Manny said, "thank you."

We have Marquis on the bases tonight. He looked real smooth in Game 1.

Amen, La Russa's a bum. If he can't get some of the top players in baseball motivated to win the Series, what good is getting there?
There is history behind your opinion. La Russa managed what was in my opinion one of the most talented teams in history for several years in Oakland, and only managed to win one World Series - against a flawed Giants team that played way over their heads to get that far.

He was out before the end of the 5th at close to 90 pitches. That means he was off the average of 22 per inning but not much. He didn't walk but 1-2 guys and pitched better than the other two Cardinal pitchers but 4 runs by the end of the 5th inning isn't what they needed.

Is that the fat lady I hear doing sound checks? Gretchen Wilson is singing the National Anthem tonight and she's no fatty!

It's actually more than that. Wakefield is an aberation for the ball that he throws but the sox pitchers haven't made many mistakes against a very potent lineup. Pujols has hit as has Walker but the team OBP sucks and hitters 1, 4, 5 and 6 have done nothing. Pedro and Schilling were able to pound the zone for most of their time and when you throw strikes, the other team is going to have to swing.
Mention of MVP should go to Veritek for the games that he is calling. Brilliant stuff.
