Not that it makes any difference, but I have made a study of B/C -vs- K/E bumperstickers on I-40 this week.
The stretch between I-95 and Durham.
The count is in favor of B/C stickers at a ratio of over 20 to 1.
As I said above, it doesnt make any difference, but it sure is heartening!

Sorry 'bout that. A lot of us have had trouble posting here over the past month. Without dwelling on all the tedious details, the multiple posts ain't our fault.

Good idea, but was it really necessary to post it SIX TIMES?

Voter turnout has exceeded 61%, and of course it depends where you are.

Most voter-turnout information refers to # of presidential votes cast v. registrations. The 2000 election numbers were based on databases that were in effect prior to the purging of old registrations that resulted from the consolidation of voter information between counties.

In NC, up to 6% of voters do not cast a ballot for president.

I am still crunching the numbers, but at this point, I would say Republicans in Mecklenburg will be DISENFRANCHISED by long lines, 3:1.

BTW, I observed for a couple hours yesterday. The average for 7 voting machines was 127 voters in one hour. That's a rate of 18 voters/machine/hour or 3.3 minutes per voter. This also means the maximum number of voters, for a precinct with 7 machines, on election day will be 1651.

My precinct has 3052 registered voters. This truly smells like chaos.

Is it possible that there will be additional machines brought in for Tuesday? Depending on turnout, there may be no problem anyway.

FReeper ALERT: Are conservative precincts across the state experiencing the following problem?

*Spot checks* in Mecklenburg show that conservative precincts will be short on voting machines. My precinct may well be voting until 2 am.

NC *Ping*

Please FRmail Constitution Day, TaxRelief OR Helms if you want to be added to or removed from this North Carolina ping list.

More machines? Nope. They're basing machine distribution on 2000 info (they say). Of course that was when we didn't have "electronic voting" freaking everyone out. I am hoping we can send a formal request for the machine counts-by-precinct, then I can finish crunching the numbers.

I'm taking my digital camera with me when I vote just in case.

I really doubt there will be any problem out West where I live. People are honest here (even if some of them are misguided).

Call the hot-line numbers:

Fraudulent claims, in phone messages, or in advertising: 1-888-610-8170

Serious disenfranchisement claims (Republican) in NC: 1.919.828.6423

Other stuff: document it (time, place, frequency), post it here, try to get the worker's name, call your closest B-C headquarters, hover a while to see if it is ongoing, etc.

Take your camera phone with you. Take your local TV station News Desk phone numbers with you. Take your local conservation radio station number with you, and be ready to roll.

DON'T CALL 1-800-our-vote. This is the NAACP/lib hot-line. (You could go ahead and call them with any *little* problem you might have. They claim to be nonpartisan. :-)

The honest folks may be being mislead by dishonest folks.

Maybe you or someone you know who is involved could do a spot check on voter counts in a heavy white precinct in your area. Then find out how many machines they will have in that precinct.

Let's find out is this is widespread across the state.

Who-da thought it?

What should one do if this was to happen to them?

<SARCASM>

Shoot the poll worker.
A couple of instances of THAT happening, and fraud will plummet.
