"As I reported earlier, Iraq has declared that 32 tons of the HMX, previously under I.A.E.A. seals, had been transferred for use in the production of industrial explosives, primarily to cement plants as a booster for explosives used in quarrying."

Baradei noted that Saddam's government had even confirmed the movement of the HMX, in quotes also picked up by the Times 21 months ago:

"Iraq has provided us with additional information, including documentation on the movement and use of this material, and inspections have been conducted at locations where the material is said to have been used.

Too bad the IAEA insisted that the munitions be left in Iraq back in 1995, over the recommendations of the UN weapons inspectors...

Duelfer also said U.N. weapons inspectors recommended in 1995 that the high explosives be destroyed because of their potential use in a nuclear weapons program.

The International Atomic Energy Agency instead ordered the explosives stored in sealed bunkers 30 miles south of the Iraqi capital. The last time the IAEA verified that the bunkers were still sealed was in March of last year, about a month before the first U.S. troops moved into the complex as they pushed toward Baghdad.

Just for fun, read the Psalms for 11/2 and 11/3--that is Psalms 112 and 113. During the invasion of Iraq, I thought it would be cool to read Psalms. For the day (March 22) that they captured our troops, including Jessica (I forgot her last name) I read Psalm 22. The Psalm was the "My God, my God why have you forsaken me?" Psalm, and I was NOT encouraged.

Then, the day they rescued her, I read Psalm 41 (for April 1)--and read "Blessed is he who has regard for the weak; the Lord delivers him in times of trouble. The Lord will protect him and preserve his life; he will bless him in the land and not surrender him to the desire of his foe. The Lord will sustain him on his sickbed and restore him from his bed of illness."

All I could think was WOW!!! I had needed encouragement, and--surprise surprise--through Gods' Word I was given Comfort and Blessed Assurance!

Thanks... Of course, IAEA reported this info directly in their testimony to the UN. Curious the NYTimes didnt mention this.

The other missing lead is the Iraqi govt who the IAEA claimed sent a letter to IAEA. Where is that letter? Is it public? Is it real?

Brit Hume spent most of his show on this non-story. Mort thought it was a big deal, but even Maura seemed (to me at least) to think it was a lot about nothing. Richard hollbrook is all over the networks trying to pump this story up... guess he really wants a big job under Kerry.
