Iraqi Security Forces Conduct Joint Operations Near Tuz

Tuz, Iraq
- Soldiers from the 209th Battalion of the Iraqi National Guard and police from the Tuz Iraqi Police department with multi-national forces from the 30th Brigade Combat Team’s Task Force 120 conducted several cordon and searches in Tuz and Amerlie on Oct. 21. They detained five suspects in the murder of the Sulyman Bak Iraqi Police Chief Lt. Col. Rasheed on Oct. 7.

This joint mission was conducted with ING soldiers conducting the main search operations in Amerlie and multi-national forces providing the outer security, resulting in the detention of two individuals.

Simultaneously in Tuz, Iraqi police and soldiers form Task Force 120 searched three locations detaining three separate individuals for questioning and discovering an illegal AK 47, seven magazines with ammunition and bomb making materials. The investigation into the murder of Chief Rasheed is on going.

Persons with information about illegal activities, anti-Iraqi forces, or roadside bombs can be financially compensated for their information.
