Put Bill Jones to work for us
Monday, October 25, 2004 - FORMER two-term Secretary of State Bill Jones won't address problems now facing the nonpartisan office he once led. He feels criticism of his successor so close to an election might shake voters' faith in the process and keep them away from the polls. That kind of constituent concern marks Jones as the right choice to represent Californians in the U.S. Senate. Loyalty to the people of California places Jones head and shoulders above two-term incumbent Barbara Boxer, a Democratic ideologue whose adherence to the liberal mantra has put her at odds with congressional Republicans and moderate Democrats such as the senior senator from California, Dianne Feinstein. Boxer's latest vote against California came when she nixed an omnibus spending bill that included Feinstein legislation to fund removal of dead trees, decimated by bark beetle infestation, and built-up underbrush that fueled forest fires that raged across Southern California for the past several years. Raised on the land, Jones, a second-generation Fresno rancher, understands the delicate balance between man's needs and that of nature and the unique struggle for water and habitat to ensure the survival of both. Long a supporter of the Bay- Delta CALFED Program to supply adequate water for the state's population and agricultural needs, Jones also pushed for passage of the 1996 Safe, Clean, Reliable Water Supply Act to provide funds to ensure safe drinking water, increase water supplies, clean up pollution in fresh water sources as well as coastal areas and to protect fish and wildlife. Jones, like the governor, is a proponent of hydrogen-fueled vehicles. Clearly Jones would be a strong voice in Washington for national issues such as agriculture, clean air and water and regional needs that turn on transportation, infrastructure and groundwater cleanup. Jones' 12 successful years in the Legislature under a Democratic majority prepared him for consensus building so necessary in governing. He rightly believes the issues facing America are bipartisan and is prepared to do what is best for the country, regardless, he says, of who's in the White House. That's the kind of national leadership needed today. Californians already know Jones is a strong law-and-order candidate through his authorship of the "three strikes' law that has dramatically reduced crime in the state. There's little doubt homeland security and defense would be primary issues for Jones, who also favors increasing the number of border patrol agents. But he sees this as only part of a total immigration plan that includes interior enforcement efforts along with helping to improve Mexico's economy to provide more opportunity for Mexican nationals to remain in their native country. The crisis of illegal immigration, Jones says, dehumanizes all who are involved and must be rectified. Jones also believes the economy and jobs growth are top national priorities as well as for California. That's why he would fight hard to get California its fair share of tax dollars. Under Boxer, California's share of tax proceeds coming back to the state has shrunk from 92 cents for every dollar sent to Washington to a mere 76 cents. Jones believes building relationships across the aisle would better that ratio. Jones notes that too many congressional committee heads run into a dead end with Boxer and have learned to only seek out Feinstein when crafting compromise. It's time Californians had more than one senator working on their behalf. It's time Californians had Bill Jones back in harness pulling for our state and for the nation. We recommend voters join us, Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger, U.S. Sen. John McCain and "the nation's mayor,' Rudy Giuliani in supporting Bill Jones for the U.S. Senate on Nov. 2. In so doing, they'll guarantee honesty and integrity in an office vital to the nation and to California.

I'd be amazed if this made a dent in his numbers. Has he run ANY ads yet? Between Boxer and MJ Fox I've seen little outside local city ads.
Who's Bill Jones?
the only ads that that commie ho Boxer is running is about abortion. Abortion??? that's the only issue she can run on and it's quite horrific. She is such an empty politician. Even worse is that Jones couldn't raise any money to run ads. hell, did they even have a debate?
Wow. Jones just might break 35%! Maybe there could be a miricle, and he could get 40%! :-/
Another wasted GOP opportunity.
Woo Hoo!!
That does it for me, he's got my vote.
Bill who????
