Former NBC news reporter, Dana Lewis (now of Fox News), was interviewed tonight by Brit Hume. Lewis was with the 101st when they rolled into Al-Qaqaa in April 2003 and confirms the reports we've been hearing. Says there was no sign anywhere of UN markings, wire, locks, etc on any facilities anywhere, indicating that all the materials the UN inspectors had inventoried and tagged had been removed. There were some locked buildings but best he could tell, any munitions that he saw were damaged. Described bent rockets, etc. Says there was NO WAY a convoy of trucks could have gotten in there under the nose of the 101st at that time.
According to Fox News, Cheney is about to release a statement responding to the issue.
Bumpity bump...
It's quite fun sitting back and watching the MSM eat its own.
As a democrat strategist put it, the fact that the news story is not true is unimportant. Just the fact that its out there to be discussed is all that matters. More work of the MSM trying to control the vote.
This makes complete sense people. Cheney statement is being times with the utmost precision here. Everyone will be home from work and this will be primetime sweetness. Stay faithfull. I must say, I'm surprise at how some of you are flying off the handle here.
Dana did say he saw wire and locks but didn't see IAEA seals then said seals could have been there but he doesn't remember seeing them.
It's also possible that BUSH/CHENEY is taking their time so that KERRY/EDWARDS wastes money and time on the ads.
Yea, I've noticed the ease of some to get weak in knees too. I'd much rather be in Bush's position than Kerry's.
Yeah it the RATS way of completely controling the news agenda for the wlast few days before the election. Does not mattee that tw story is untrue, somepoeple will not thear it was a fraud and in the menatime it is only Bush on defense with the MSM talking about nothing else.
We need to get Kerry hammered for not checking facts before he speaks/acts on this and othe rissues., That is where irresponsibility sits and we cannot have that isn a pres.
Heh.. Kerry et cie has had a few days to shoot their mouths off ... I'll bet after the Mary Cheney stuff, the VP said 'oh let me do it!' ;=)
I agree with you that Bush/Cheney knew they needed to wait until the right moment. That moment seems to have arrived.
I thought that the panel discussion was more interesting, especially Krauthammer.
I love the panel...wouldn't miss it but Krauthammer is the man!
I'm sure there will be a devastating response from Bush on this issue on November 3rd. By then, it will be on page A-3, just below the article that speculates that Wes Clark will be the new Sec of Defense.
If Cheney doesn't issue a strong statement on this by 8 pm PDT, it will miss being included in the lead item on the 10 pm news. This was big deal last night on the local news, and I realized that no one hearing the story had any idea that the weapons were missing at the start of the war, unless they read FR or Drudge. Most people only watch the local news.
Just a few weeks ago we saw a Kerry campaign manual that told their staff to allege intimidation even if no evidence existed.
Now Kerry is alleging weapons disappeared that were not there.
John Harry Houdini--...an unimpressive magician!
Actually, I'm listening to the Fox New's segment now on radio and I think it gives a clear picture that the NYT didn't have enough info. to even consider publishing the story. Also, why wouldn't anyone even consider that Sadaam's regime moved these explosives? No, they'd rather challenge Americans over the UN.
Slow down a second...
O'Reilly is doing this topic tonight...Hannity and Colmes is also..Gretta is addressing it too...
It was the topic of 40% of Brit Humes show including the panel...
I'd estimate the audience of all those programs to be a LOT...and what happens with stories like this that aren't talked about in MSM? Anyone who watches it..tells family members...friends, co-workers..and they take it in...check it out for themselves...spread the word..the cycle begins.
Don't worry this story WILL be dead either way by Thursday because they will launch Plan B...and then Plan C on Saturday Night....
Hopefully Cheney will comment on Kerry putting more faith in the UN than our soldiers (again).
