ABC Early Voting Poll: Bush Ahead
NewsMax ^ | 10/26/04 | Carl Limbacher

Posted on 10/26/2004 3:50:25 PM PDT by wagglebee

ABC News reported Tuesday that polling of people who have already voted shows George Bush with the lead over John Kerry by a significant margin, 51% to 47%.

The network reports that this early voting represents 1 in every ten voters who will likely vote through Election Day.

But the poll results "doesn't mean Bush is 'winning' the absentee vote; the difference is within sampling tolerances. And among all likely voters, including those waiting for Election Day, the race is essentially tied: Forty-nine percent support Kerry and 48 percent Bush, with 1 percent for Ralph Nader in interviews Friday through Monday."

ABC's early voting polls also don't show results for key battleground states like Florida and Ohio. Democrats are already saying privately that results in key states look good for Kerry.

I don't think anyone can call it yet because battle ground states have not been counted yet.

"How would they know? The votes are not being counted yet."

That's what I was wondering.

ESP?

LOL!

Nevada has 2 weeks of early voting - I voted already and things seemed lively at the ballot place.

"...our early voting effort sucks."

Yeah, thanks to Victory 2004 ~ In WV, early voting started on October 13th and supposedly Victory has precinct captains in place. But according to the leaders here, they pretty much have no GOTV effort going. Unfortunately, Victory and Bush's idea of grassroots development and GOTV is automated telephone calls to the same people over and over and over again. I know first hand this does not win votes ~ people confuse the Republican party with the Presidential campaign all day long and people call upset, frustrated, and threatening to switch their vote to John Kerry because an idiot political consultant convinced someone important that impersonal telephone calls will get people to the polls. Sheesh.

How do they know the results? In Tennessee they don't count the early voting until the polls are closed on election day. I'm sure that's the case in most states also.

Josh, this is POLLING...not actual results. They don't COUNT the votes until the polls close on election day.

This is very surprising. I would have thought the early votes would go to Kerry given the Dems early vote drive.

Depends on the state and their counties. In Tennessee I can vote early from 8-4:30 M-F. In Davidson county (Nashville) they have more open hours and have early voting at all major libraries.

Absentee ballots are NOT counted until Election Day or later.

Early voting states: Texas, Georgia, Florida, North Carolina, Iowa, Nevada, Colorado, Tennessee, Virginia, West Virginia. (correct me if I'm wrong)

Can somebody (anybody) dig up the total population that voted in each of those states in 2000 and show it as % for Bush and Gore? I think that would show us how the 'delta' in this year's election is trending.

NOTE: Do use the % of each state - need actual number of votes. If Bush got more than 51% then he's trailing, If he got less than 51%, then he's ahead IMHO.

We have voting in all the libraries plus a few other places. But they open at 11:30 and the lines are going down the sidewalk. It's not as bad as it looks, though. I got through in a couple of hours.

Early Voting

The following states permit in-person early voting at election offices and, in some states, other satellite locations.

Alabama

Maine

Alaska

Nebraska

Arizona

Nevada

Arkansas

New Mexico

California

North Carolina

Colorado

North Dakota*

Florida

Oklahoma

Georgia

Tennessee

Hawaii

Texas

Indiana

Utah

Iowa

Vermont

Kansas

West Virginia

* Early voting is not offered in all counties.  In North Dakota, it is offered at the county election officer’s discretion.  In Illinois, whether or not is offered depends on the regular hours and location of the county election official’s office.

** Early voting is offered in presidential election years only.

My impression is that the big emphasis was on the democrat side for the early vote drive. I thought Florida wad the only state but I 'm incorrect.

Kerry's already said he'll claim victory early and often no matter what...and let their lawyers slug it out. That putz and his henchmen don't care what damage they do to this country in their greed for power. It started with Clinton. Remember? Whatever the Clintons did or said, lies, rapes, intimidation, so what. The RATs in 2004 are simply connecting the dots. Gutter behavior, no integrity, no ethics, lies, cheating stealing. The MSM follow along like sheep.

OK here we go:

Texas B 3,799,639;G 2,433,746

Georgia B 1,419,720; G 1,116,230

Florida B 2,912,790; G 2,912,253

North Carolina B 1,631,163; G 1,257,692

Iowa B 634,373; G 638,517

Nevada B 301,575; G 279,978

Colorado B 883,748; G 738,227

Tennessee B 1,061,949; G 981,720

Virginia B 1,437,490; G 1,217,290

West Virginia B 336,475; G 295,497

Bush: 14,418,919 = 54.85%

Gore: 11,871,150 = 45.15%

And Bush is only getting 51% now, Yep - I'd say Bush is in trouble, unless the conservatives really kick in the last 72 hours ...

"Democrats are already saying privately that results in key states look good for Kerry."

There are 3 kinds of lies: Lies, Darn Lies, and Democratic Statements.
