Be prepared [call to action on Kerry ad based on explosive lies]

Be prepared

Drudge reports that the Kerry campaign is set to run a 30-second ad on the Iraqi explosives that, he claims, the U.S. military failed to secure. If such an ad appears, I'm not sure that the blogosphere and the pro-Bush media outlets will have had enough time to counteract it. The Bush campaign should consider having ready an ad of its own attacking Kerry for making this apparently phony charge. The ad might include a picture of Mohammed El Baradei, the IAEA guy who put the story out, along with a representation of what the embedded NBC reporters found when they reached the site. The ad might also tie into one of Bush's attack themes (perhaps the global test) so as not to appear defensive.

UPDATE: The ad has been released.

Are you listening, Bush campaign?

President Bush needs to make a statement; have a press conference - something straight from the President himself and NOW. . .stop the lies. . .stop the misinformation. . .stop the Kerry camp in it's tracks. . .NOW; by stepping up and out. . .taking advantage of his position as President so speak directly to the people. He should have a 'fireside' everynight. . .or Press conference every day. . .something.

They cannot sit and watch these lies be filtered into truth!

To your question . . .ARE THEY LISTENING? I doubt it.

The campaign had better be on task with this. I've read the Kerry ad. It may be built on deceptions and half truths but it's an effective ad and it will require not rebutting but refutation. Total undeniable refutation. This is IMHO the big test for Rove et al. They need to come up big here.

the campaign can't leave this to play itself out. Obviously MSM and Kerry campaign is going to go with this story even though it's a lie....The truth WILL NOT play itself out in time for the election.

I agree Karen, Karl...do something!!! Get the president out there TODAYThis is serious shit and the Dems do not care if they will be repudiated in a week...they'll have won the election!!!

Now that they've rushed this ad out, I have to agree. Just like with the Rather story, they just happened to have an ad ready to roll.

"They need to come up big here."

So far, they haven't. Per the Kerry Spot on NRO:

BUSH TEAM RESPONSE [10/26 05:40 PM]

Steve Schmidt, Bush-Cheney '04 Spokesman, today: "John Kerry demonstrated today that he is not going to let the facts get in the way of his political attacks. He is a candidate who will say and do anything if he perceives there to be an opportunity for political gain. The fact is that John Kerry does not have a plan or vision to fight and win the War on Terror, and he is resorting to a series of baseless attacks and distortions that have been proven false."

Come on, guys. The New York Times, international bureaucrats like Mohamed ElBaradei and the Kerry campaign are coordinating October-surprise hit pieces on President Bush. This is screaming for a tougher response. Something like an attack ad stating, “Kerry is playing Monday Morning Quarterback with the 101st Airborne’s performance in Iraq. In 1971, John Kerry smeared our troops as rapists and butchers then... He’s smearing them as incompetent now. This Nov. 2, show John Kerry what you think of his attacks on our troops."

So far, John Gibson on FoxNews has offerred the only 'common sense' I have heard yet. Expect to hear less from Britt.

Bravo John. . .it just ended!

And surely less from O'Reilly. . .

If Kerry does this he is in effect saying the 101 screwed up. And if he challenges any rebuttal he is going to wind up calling the men of the 101 liars. Not a smart move. Someone, like Tommy Franks, is going to step all over this ad.

I'll take this as a small first step, say Doolittle Raid. But now that we've finally used the word "false" we need to do a battle of Midway. Nothing less.
