Isn't there some legend that if the American League wins the WS in an election year, a Republican wins the white house?

Nelson Briles pitched a 7 hittter in game three..the Cards won..and in game 4..Bob Gibson pitched his 2nd shutout..he would win three games in the World Series..and send Boston fans into a 40 year funk...

In other words...you're waaay toooo early for this thread..or waaay toooo late for the 1967 game..did they have the internet back then? Where was Al Gore?..Was Kerry in the stands, 30 yards away, or in Cambodia?

Cards win all 3 at home, lose game 6 and win game 7 in the ninth....just to put an apostrophe on the curse.

If we can pull off a sweep, we'd win the series under a full lunar eclipse. That would be a nice way to kill the curse. This is assuming tonight's game isn't rained out.

If there is, it's not a very compelling one: happened 9 times, didn't happen 15 times (no World Series winner in 1904).

"Possible rainout tonight???"

From Intellicast's StL 10-day forecast:
Tuesday:
Thunderstorms likely. High 72F. Winds SE at 5 to 10 mph. Chance of rain 80%.
Tuesday night:
Thunderstorms, especially during the evening. Low 63F. Winds SE at 5 to 10 mph. Chance of rain 60%.

So, yeah. Possible rainout. I haven't checked the radar tho.

Cards ... win game 7 in the ninth....just to put an apostrophe on the curse.

The newgeezers would be elated over that. Make it an exclamation point, though.

My perfect scenario would have Manny pulling a "Buckner" with two outs in the top of the ninth, allowing the go-ahead runs to score. Then, Izzy strikes out the side; Manny looking makes the last out (one of those way-inside pitches like they called on Edmonds in Game 1). Pedro the racist *&#$ takes the loss.

That'd be beautiful, just beautiful.

I don't know, The cards have some of the weakest pitching I've ever seen in the WS.

There won't be a game 7 sox in 6.

Everyone should be rooting for the Cardinals, even if they a not Cardinals fans.

John "Mr. Red Sox" Kerry claims that he has been distracted from campaigning due to the presence of the Red Sox in post-season play. To give you an idea (or idear) of how distracted he is, he has trouble remembering details such as the scores of the games. ("7-1 Red Sox!" he hooted as he exited a plane on Sunday, even though the score was actually 6-2.) Well, the way I see it, if he is so distracted by Red Sox wins, how much more distracted will he be by Red Sox losses?

Eagerly awaiting the Bambino curse to kick in!

The cards have some of the weakest pitching I've ever seen in the WS.

For some strange reason, they've been trying to nibble the corners in the WS, when throwing strikes worked for them all year long. Fourteen BBs and three HBPs in Games 1 & 2; eight of 17 Bosox runs got on base by way of the BB or HBP. I can only guess they were afraid to put the ball in play at Fenway.

If the Cards pitchers quit nibbling and pitch like they did all year, letting the defense do the work, it's Cards in 7, if not 6. Long live The Curse.

If by chance the Sox pull it off, there's a silver lining to that black cloud. Those sorry Cub fans will no longer have anyone else to commiserate with.
