Has Kerry Lied about Annulment, Too?
WorldNetDaily ^ | April 10, 2004 | Les Kinsolving

"This week's issue of Time magazine (April, 2004) says Sen. John Kerry 'sought an annulment of his 18-year first marriage before marrying again.' News reports indicate, however, that Kerry didn't seek an annulment until after he married Teresa Heinz in a civil ceremony in 1995. Today's New York Times says Kerry 'sought an annulment from the church when he was divorced from his first wife.' Notice that neither Time nor the New York Times says that an annulment was granted. They say it was 'sought.'

I know this may be an old issue, but like Kerry's military record, it has never been answered. And, it addresses the issue of Kerry's character. Once again, Kerry never tells the truth.

This is an important question for Catholics. If Kerry was never granted an annulment, in the eyes of the Catholic church he is still married to his first wife.

Kerry will not answer questions about this. However, an additional observation is: If there was an annulment, there would have been a Catholic/Church wedding for Heinz and Kerry. They have not had one, only the civil ceremony. With all their money and connections one would think that they would have had a large wedding at almost any church they desired in the world. Why not?

If no annulment, and with Kerry's own professed support of abortion, it is clear he is out of sync with Catholic beliefs.

See this: “ Prediction: Senator Kerry will formally leave the Catholic Church within the year, IF the declaration of nullity is not granted. I'll bet there are some officials in the Boston chancery who are scrambling, looking through the tribunal records, asking aloud, "Hmmmm, now where is that Kerry file?" I think that … if Kerry has not obtained an annulment, there is a very good chance that the annulment process would be expedited.” Posted by: Fr. I'm pretty sure Kerry "sought" the annulment in the Washington DC diocese.

And Kerry met with Cardinal McCarrick earlier this year. It wasn't really clear what the subject of the meeting was.

Kerry has completely stonewalled on this issue, just like on his Navy records.

It also goes on to ad more proof of the media's bias. All of the dozens and dozens of unanswered question about Kerry and they are ignored, yet the MSM goes to untold efforts to dig up lies to spread about the President.

Kerry is simply a living LIE, just like the socialist party he represents....the left cannot stand on the truth. It never will.

As I explained to someone else. It really doesn't matter.

Kerry had his DIVORCE before he married terraza. That marriage was valid before the eyes of God and so are two daughters of his first marriage.

From what I gather from Catholics an annulment wipes out the legitimacy of the marriage and it is "anulled". With this view of wiping out the "marriage" then the children would be ILLegitimate since his first marriage in the Catholic church is not deemed legitimate hence neither would his children be then.

Just curious about something. As a result of the annulment of his first marriage, does this not make his daughters BASTARD children? Maybe someone should ask, since he felt the need to mention the VP's lesbian daughter.

The children are not considered illegitimate. There is a civil marriage but not a spiritual one.

Why is it that anytime a Democrat is truly scrutinized, we find all kinds of skeletons in their closets? Is it because liberals feel they are above the law and don't have to obey rules set forth for the rest of us? If so, it's time to ship them off to Siberia, where they can enjoy the winter sports.

Since the title was changed from WND's
Hey, Kerry, who's 'Pope Pius XXIII'?
I'm wondering what the "lie" is.

This would seem to qualify:
"Kerry says his 'current marriage is in good graces
with the Church?'"

But the core of the story appears to be that Kerry
a. applied for the annulment after remarriage, and
b. may never have received the annulment

But I see only stonewalling, and not specific lying
about a & b.

On one level, this is a "private" matter. But can you imagine the media firestorm, if, for example, it turned out that George and Laura were shacking up for the first two years? Or that George was living with another woman before he married Laura? There is no way the Press would "respect his privacy."

Wrong. That's not what the Catholic Church says. Children of a putative marriage are legitimate, even if it is subsequently annulled.

Exactly! Two parties, two different sets of rules! This country is becoming more Orwellian by the day -- "All pigs are created equal, but some pigs are more equal than others." Scary.

When an annulment is granted the Sacrament of Holy Matrimony is annuled, the civil marriage stands and the status of the children is never affected.

We already had one president who lied and perjured himself and who romped with a fat intern in the Oval Office, making a mockery of the presidency. Why do people want another president who is guaranteed to be accompanied with continual uproar and controversy? Seems they would have had enough with Clinton.

A Catholic annulment does not affect the legitimacy of the children. You can really only get an annulment if you tell the church that you entered the marriage under false pretenses (i.e. "we were not truly in love.", "we didn't realize the type of commitment marriage entailed.", etc). Therefore, it nullifies the sacramental ceremony but has no affect on the civil standing. That is why Catholics essentially need to get "2 divorces", one sanctioned by the church and one sanctioned by the state.

John Kerry marries Julia in 1970.
In 1995(?), John Kerry contends that
the this marriage was somehow sacramentally defective.
(note, two offspring)
WTF
