KERRY SPOT
Jim Miklaszewski of NBC News pretty much dismantled the New York Times attack on behalf of Kerry today.
NBC News: Miklaszewski: April 10, 2003, only three weeks into the war, NBC News was embedded with troops from the Army's 101st Airborne as they temporarily take over the Al Qakaa weapons installation south of Baghdad. But these troops never found the nearly 380 tons of some of the most powerful conventional explosives, called HMX and RDX, which is now missing. The U.S. troops did find large stockpiles of more conventional weapons, but no HMX or RDX, so powerful less than a pound brought down Pan Am 103 in 1988, and can be used to trigger a nuclear weapon. In a letter this month, the Iraqi interim government told the International Atomic Energy Agency the high explosives were lost to theft and looting due to lack of security. Critics claim there were simply not enough U.S. troops to guard hundreds of weapons stockpiles, weapons now being used by insurgents and terrorists to wage a guerrilla war in Iraq. (NBCs Nightly News, 10/25/04)
If Jill Abramson, managing editor of the New York Times, had a shred of concern over her paper's reputation for getting the facts right never mind objectivity or fairness, she would be running the correction - or at least this blatantly contradictory information - in the giant headline font and above-the-fold location that today's story got. But I guess the interest in echoing the sentiments of Maureen Dowd is more important than getting it right at the Old Gray Lady.
I told you the NYT article smelled bad ... and Kerry had that info in his speech this afternoon
hmmmmmmm .. what timing or what
Quite fascinating, huh?
What logical reason could they have to want that to happen?
I already sent copies out on the email express ;-D
Note to self: The story is over a year old! DUH
Sorry - - what reputation?
The disgraceful, former "paper of record" has no "reputation" anymore - - only an agenda.
Sean Hannity needs to mention this to Bush in his interview tonight.
More importantly, we have Kerry, once again, shooting is yap off - screaming bloody murder - over a single uninformed 'news' report in the NYT. This clown does not have the temperment to be a security guard let alone CIC.
NYT: Dooooh!! Stupid truth!!
Good job! Some of us tried to calm all those Freepers last night who were freaking out over this. Some were trolls but others were legit Freepers who sometimes panic too easily.
This turkey of a story ain't going nowhere. The New York Slimes got caught in another whopper. The funniest part was how the DUmmies were convinced that this would be the issue that finally sank President Bush.
LMAO!!!!!
This is GREAT!
BTW, Did anyone catch the Bush interview with Sean tonight? It was pretty good. Alot of the same ol same ol, but it shows a stark contrast between the two candidates. Will you EVER see Kerry open up like Bush does, how he shows emotion? Kerry apparently can't connect like Bush does.
Of course, PD ... Torie Clarke. God Bless her! Thanks.
The Presidents interview was taped on Saturday.

You ARE new, aren't you?
Good job! Welcome to Free Republic.
ping: wonder if the BC 04 campaign knew this NBC story was coming
If you are out there, you can say "I told you so" --- I deserve it. Thanks again for your help last night!
Seems to me that if the RATS had anything on our pres for an October surprise, algore would have used it in '00? what's comming out now is just old useless info. Am I wrong?
I never thought I'd say this but... way to go NBC!
Okay, now I have to go take a shower...
