KERRY SPOT
Jim Miklaszewski of NBC News pretty much dismantled the New York Times attack on behalf of Kerry today.
NBC News: Miklaszewski: April 10, 2003, only three weeks into the war, NBC News was embedded with troops from the Army's 101st Airborne as they temporarily take over the Al Qakaa weapons installation south of Baghdad. But these troops never found the nearly 380 tons of some of the most powerful conventional explosives, called HMX and RDX, which is now missing. The U.S. troops did find large stockpiles of more conventional weapons, but no HMX or RDX, so powerful less than a pound brought down Pan Am 103 in 1988, and can be used to trigger a nuclear weapon. In a letter this month, the Iraqi interim government told the International Atomic Energy Agency the high explosives were lost to theft and looting due to lack of security. Critics claim there were simply not enough U.S. troops to guard hundreds of weapons stockpiles, weapons now being used by insurgents and terrorists to wage a guerrilla war in Iraq. (NBCs Nightly News, 10/25/04)
If Jill Abramson, managing editor of the New York Times, had a shred of concern over her paper's reputation for getting the facts right never mind objectivity or fairness, she would be running the correction - or at least this blatantly contradictory information - in the giant headline font and above-the-fold location that today's story got. But I guess the interest in echoing the sentiments of Maureen Dowd is more important than getting it right at the Old Gray Lady.
NBC to NYT: "If anybody's gonna sink Bush, it'll be US!"
So many lies to keep straight.
I just heard Hannity mention this
Another October Surprise!
This should be put in The Breaking News section, Thanks
It's spelled w/ a "k" too. uggggg
Anyone with a brain can tell you it was the UN who blew it by not getting this stuff out of Iraq. If it was so important, why did they allow themselves to be 'convinced' to leave the explosives for peaceful uses?
HEY, WHAT ABOUT THE 248,000 TONS OF EXPLOSIVES DESTROYED OR CAPTURED?

I heard that...right after of Dennis had the nerve to say the Washington Times was a biased source....they can dish it out but they sure don't like to take it, do they?!!
So what is going on ...I just spent 3 hours in a planning board meeting and have been out of the news loop.
>>If Jill Abramson, managing editor of the New York Times, had a shred of concern over her paper's reputation<<
You can stop right there. Abramson doesn't have a shred of concern for her own reputation, evidenced by that "book" she co-wrote with Jane Meyer regarding Anita Hill with huge passages simply made up. If this brainless bimbo told me grass was green and the sky is blue, I wouldn't believe it.
Yup, Rush pointed this out today.
The nonstory is 19 mos old and reflects poorly on the IAEA and the international inspectors, and the UN hand wringers.
NOT POTUS OR OUR TROOPS
I predicted last night that this was another great Karl Rove rope-a-dope story. Kerry bit off on it big time.
Don't forget the Monday Night Doom and Gloomers here..
Kerry caught lying about our troops AGAIN!
Am I in the Twilight Zone here? You mean NBC news didn't just go along with the NYT story. I never listen to nightly news anymore. Sorry I missed it!
I'm slow. How does NBC contradict NYT here?
