KERRY SPOT
Jim Miklaszewski of NBC News pretty much dismantled the New York Times attack on behalf of Kerry today.
NBC News: Miklaszewski: April 10, 2003, only three weeks into the war, NBC News was embedded with troops from the Army's 101st Airborne as they temporarily take over the Al Qakaa weapons installation south of Baghdad. But these troops never found the nearly 380 tons of some of the most powerful conventional explosives, called HMX and RDX, which is now missing. The U.S. troops did find large stockpiles of more conventional weapons, but no HMX or RDX, so powerful less than a pound brought down Pan Am 103 in 1988, and can be used to trigger a nuclear weapon. In a letter this month, the Iraqi interim government told the International Atomic Energy Agency the high explosives were lost to theft and looting due to lack of security. Critics claim there were simply not enough U.S. troops to guard hundreds of weapons stockpiles, weapons now being used by insurgents and terrorists to wage a guerrilla war in Iraq. (NBCs Nightly News, 10/25/04)
If Jill Abramson, managing editor of the New York Times, had a shred of concern over her paper's reputation for getting the facts right never mind objectivity or fairness, she would be running the correction - or at least this blatantly contradictory information - in the giant headline font and above-the-fold location that today's story got. But I guess the interest in echoing the sentiments of Maureen Dowd is more important than getting it right at the Old Gray Lady.
Great news!
Yeah, but you need to remember, He,s got a Plan?
The 'Rats have exhausted my vocabulary. Now, I just shake my head.
101st AB needs to release a statement NOW!
God Bless your son.
There was a huge amount of foolishness on the airwaves about the explosive power of HMX and RDX, so we might as well speak the truth now. Neither HMX, RDX, C-4, PETN, nor any other conventional explosive is a "miracle explosive." In general, these explosives have a "TNT Equivalent" rating of less than 2, i.e. 4 lbs of TNT are more powerful than 2 lbs of one of these explosives. Check the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory Explosives Handbook. Instead, these explosives are useful for their stability, moldability, low toxicity, etc.
The Old Gray Lady has fallen, and she can't get up!
NBCNEWS: HUGE CACHE OF EXPLOSIVES VANISHED FROM SITE IN IRAQ -- AT LEAST 18 MONTHS AGO -- BEFORE TROOPS ARRIVED
What took Matt so long, LOL.
This is one of those "IT HAS LEGS" stories that some were asking about. LOL.
Perhaps Brit is being even more "balanced" because of all the attention Fox is getting because of O'Reilly?
Thats funny Vlad...Damned Funny! L0L
I think that if the NYT and the MSM actually thought about what they were saying...they're saying that we skipped over a munitions dump that contained this much explosives. If you're a general planning an attack, the first thing you do is map the enemies weapon stores and other hard targets and plan for either bombing or taking possession of them. It would be amateur of any war planner to let this type of weaponry fall into the hands of someone who you are fighting...it is absolutely absurd.
If they had claimed that there were explosives that the US didn't know about that fell into the enemies hands that would be one thing, but to say we knowingly left 380 tons of nuclear grade explosives unattended it idiotic.
So the NYTimes is basically saying our generals and our troops are idiots and incompetent....oh, but THEY support our troops...yeah right
It's an ongoing effort to be a kinder, gentler Airborne!
I wonder how far and wide they distributed the free copies of the NYT today.
i doubt if the ocpies were bootlegged to Iraq...Michael moore is evil enough to send to our troops...his day will come and it will be a joy to see his reaction to 4 more years of Bush!!!
Remember that ad from years ago? ;)
All the talking conservative heads have been saying all day that SKerry is picking up the headlines and working them into his stumping the next day. DOOH! Good job Karl
I thought it might be Busch or Busch Lite. LOL!
you mean " BORED MEETING "
