Looking at this in the short-term, I can easily imagine that there is some frustration, after making so much effort to get this guy elected.

Folks like Katie are probably beginning to turn on Kerry as they recognize that he, like Gore, has blown so many chances. They pretended to love him because he wasn't Bush, but if he fails to save them from the GOP, they're gonna punish him severely in the press.

Thinking long-term (with a little tin-foil), it could be true that Bush was too popular for anybody to face him this year. They may be working on plan B: ensure another election fraud trauma, attempt to neuter the GOP by declaring that the victory/mandate was questionable and run Hillary as the savior in 2008.

With the press going on about it relentlessly, the "no real mandate" approach worked pretty well for the democrats after 2000.

This cycle, they've even prepared harder and they have turned up the volume a bit with:

The MSM will turn on Kerry to try and look (at the last minute) fair to both sides. As it becomes clear he will lose, watch them treat him more like they do Repubs. If I am right, this will help give Bush a 300+ mandate.
