At first I thought the guy is wrong. Then I read your post and you make a lot of good points. They should let the guy go and live his life. He has already done his time.
What can you say, this is the Military. National Security comes first, you know this when you join.
I just looked at my original enlistment contract, it states that in time of national emergency I may be involuntarily extented.
Assuming this guy has the same deal, he's SOL.
This is the same thing that happened in WW2. There is plenty of precedent for it. Also, in Korea lots of officers and enlisted men were called back in whether they wanted it or not. If the guy didn't want to fight, he shouldn't have ever signed up. Simple as that.
Look what happend to Col Allen West...
Gods speed and protection...
The greatest weapon any combatant brings to the field is his willingness to fight to the end for the cause no matter how right or wrong it may be; we can ill afford shirkers while we engage in deadly combat with an implacble enemy willing to strap the crudest explosive device to their waists and step boldly into the beyond.

The Hollywood crowd includes a number of elements, of course :)
LOL. Sheesh... next thing ya know you'll be red-baiting :->
Me?!!! Never :) And I never insinuated that Don Corleone was anything more than a simple fruit salesman. . .
"The New York resident has never received a written, official response to his resignation request..." Then I guess the Army hasn't resigned him and he needs to report.
