Why America Has Waged a Losing Battle on Fallouja
Los Angeles Times ^ | October 24, 2004 | Alissa J. Rubin and Doyle McManus

Posted on 10/24/2004 7:38:42 AM PDT by John Jorsett

FALLOUJA, Iraq — As soon as the women of Fallouja learned that four Americans had been killed, their bodies mutilated, burned and strung up from a bridge, they knew a terrible battle was coming.

They filled their bathtubs and buckets with water. They bought sacks of rice and lentils. They considered that they might soon die.

"When we heard the news," said Turkiya Abid, 62, a mother of 15, "we began to say the Shahada," the Muslim profession of faith.

There is no god but God, and Muhammad is the messenger of God.

In Washington, the reaction to the March 31 killings was exactly what the women of Fallouja had expected: anger. Those inside George W. Bush's White House believed that the atrocity demanded a forceful response, that the United States could not sit still when its citizens were murdered.

Since I can't get the article because I don't want to be a member, I will guess the reason for this is to show the poor civilians being hurt by the mean American's taking unbalanced responses to our people being killed and brutalized..Am I right?

If so, let me say this..Who the hell cares what these people think and another thing, what should we do, in the eyes of the LA Rags,,they kill four we kill four..Sh@*..at that rate we will never leave, especially given the fact that these people have 14 kids a household it appears...Frag em all and sort it out later.

"So why was one not forthcoming?"

Because we have an opposition dedicated to itself and not the interests of the country or individual Americans and which will use any even inevitable difficulty or reversal to their advantage, regardless of its effects.

If the L.A. Times says we are losing then we are probably winning.

I can't believe that the simpering McManus is within a thousand miles of Falluja. I can't imgagine that he would be in Iraq without orders from his bosses. Perhaps the paper was hoping for its own internal October surprise.

Sorry. I'll stick with my first try. The obvious implication of which is that our forces were held back for reasons more PC than strategic or tactical.

This is just more heavily biased liberal propaganda from the LA Times. The only use for that paper is to line bird cages.

But I really don't want to hear anything the LA Grimes has to say..about anything at really anytime, since the collective intelligence of the editorial staff would scarcely reach the level of that of my cat.

Hmmm the LA Lies must not be paying attention. The battle is still going and at last report "the Jihadis were preparing to defend the last ditch"

Funny how the American media do NOT realize Time is ON OUR side. Fallugha is a tar baby the Terrorists have hugged to their breast and it is killing them. Rather then having to go on casualty intensive seek and destroy missions, we are killing Terrorists in the dozens every day in Fallugha. We have the terrorist localized and contained Meanwhile, the rest of Iraq is moving to stability and self defense.
