As we all know by now, Tay-ray-za Heinz Kerry this week committed her ``real job'' Laura Bush blooper. ``I don't know that (Laura's) ever had a real job.'' Thus did zany Tay-ray-za, almost Silberesque in her ability to put foot in mouth, simultaneously annoy teachers and librarians (Laura's first two real jobs) and full-time homemakers (her third).
``Blowsy hair, brassy mouth and bossy boots.'' So sniffed the conservative Washington Times of Heinz Kerry, who may forget she owes her position entirely to her marriages. Or maybe we just forget she's 66. Who else but an older woman would've said, in her DNC speech this summer, ``It is time for the world to hear womens voices - in full and at last.''
I think we've been hearing them big time, Tay-ray-za, for at least 30 years.
Who else but a woman rich enough to have escaped the never-ending debate - work, stay home, work part-time, join mommy track - would've missed the rebirth of full-time mothering as the middle class status choice? The new chic? More and more mothers who can stay home, do.
At least that's what polls say and Parenting magazine and endless stories about 30-something businesswomen going home to nest. We're hearing it, too, from daughters of baby boomers. They saw Mother's frenzy. Many now say, no thanks. Perhaps opinions will change after a season of TV's huge new mega-hit exploring the dark underbelly of supposed suburban paradise. That's ``Desperate Housewives.'' Catch it tonight at 9.
In the meantime what's happened is a sobered-by-reality acknowledgement that eight hours at work and a one-hour commute leaves little time to cook a dinner and monitor homework, never mind share the car pool to soccer practice or pick out new wallpaper or or just sit around having those heart-to-hearts we're supposed to have with recalcitrant teens.
``What I feel worst about is that I'm always so strung out and stressed out I can't enjoy the little things like making a cupcake. I always feel like I should be doing something else,'' says Andrea Cohen, mother of daughters aged 12 and 8. She recalled the themes of the best-seller ``Tuesdays with Morrie'': how the dying man said what he'd miss most were going to the deli, waking up with his wife, the every day of living. It's the same notion a friend offered Paul Tsongas when the late senator decided to quit politics: ``No one on his deathbed ever said, `I wish I had spent more time at my business.' ''
Yet Cohen, who runs her own elder care business, talks about her passion for work competing with her passion for family. She tries to satisfy both, but says ``every single other woman that I know has either dropped out of work force or gone to a lower level job.''
Yesterday among a group of mothers attending parents' weekend at their children's college, my daughter's college, in fact, the toll of career vs. none was subject du jour. And there were many regrets. One mother confessed she'd never made it to a school night function in time to have a seat near the auditorium front. More than once she'd gotten there late, hoping her children wouldn't notice. Another mother, a lawyer, said her daughter openly complains about her not having been there. ``You never had the time,'' the daughter told her, ``to sit around the kitchen or watch TV.''
A single mother who works long hours managing an office hears the same complaints. But because she needs every bit of her salary, she feels less guilt. There were no stay-at-home mothers in the group. Otherwise, we'd get no confessions. But this completely pro-Kerry crowd thought it best if Tay-ray-za, given her millions and the ``real job backlash,'' steers clear of the subject. Said the office manager, ``if she'd done it, she'd know better.''
LOL. Yes, this is serious business.
Lets be fair, when Heinz found his Mozambique whore, he had to pay her with marriage. She's been working it ever since. She views marriage as a job, pumping out an heir and a spare, just like the royalty of old. Stupid cow! She understands Americans so well.
One wonders about the RPMs that Republican Senator Heinz is achieving this moment concerning his lovely bride being with sKerry...
SORRY but IF this women had ever really changed a diaper, scrubbed a toliet bowl, or cleaned a babys vomit she never would have said the things she said, shes had maids and nannies all her life too raise her children, and to put down women who choose to stay at home and raise their children is the height of hypocracy!
Laura Bush is 100% class. Ta-ray-za is 100% trash.
Reminds me of Hillary, who also had an army of servants (paid for by taxpayers like us) to help her raise Chelsea. These clueless women then have the nerve to lecture us about childraising and the Democrats worship at the feet of their brilliance.
Teresa said her experience was "larger".
I feel so small with my little life of paying bills, having tended to kids, gone to the dentist, the orthodontist, the school plays, washing diapers, washing clothese, vacuuming, running a house.
She knows how to make a person feel small doesn't she. We should have all married money and had him die so we could have a "large experience".
Gimmie a break! Just because she's 66 is an excuse to be stupid, crude and senile? I don't think so, thank you very much. Now I'll read the rest. Stupid, annoying second paragraph...
Re Hillary's "Army of Servants", most of them were Arkansas state police. Changing diapers, taxi service... In her defense though, prisoners took care of the yard.
From the article "who may forget she owes her position entirely to her marriages."
The same can be said for both Mr and Ms.
Another future Republican Voter. I worked with a very nice youg woman who had to work while saving for a house. There was an hour or so gap, shift work, power biz, between the time she left and the time her husband, State Hack, got home.
The Kids, two very nice young ladies, started listining to Howie Carr. Howie and everyone else in Boston refers to Tom Mennino, Rat, Hyde Park, as mummbles. Hizz Honor showed up at their school in West Roxbury, for a photo op with the kids, these young ladies do a walk by and yell out "Hey Mumbles." I wish i could remember the Q and A., these kids are future hard corps.
WE SHOULD HAVE ALL MARRIED MONEY AND HAD HIM DIE SO WE COULD HAVE A ''LARGE EXPERIENCE''! .........GREAT POST!! I wish I had her number so I could call her up and tell her to read it!!
I wonder how many times Hillary or Tereza had a baby sitter call in sick or not show up the night they had an important social engagement or tickets to a concert by a band they had wanted to see their entire lives? How often did they have to leave work or whatever they were doing because the school nurse called to tell them to pick up their sick kid at school? Or change the diapers of a sick baby at 3 AM? I certainly wouldn't have minded some State Police help on those occasions. And as for prisoners, well, the leaves need raking in my yard. Think they'll lend me a few to help?
It's the typical arrogance from the Kerry's. Tereza married into money --- she knows nothing of the people who have to work for a living --- if she worked -- I don't know if she ever did --- she surrounded herself with plenty of servants, unlikely has ever had to clean her own house or care for her own kids after putting in 8 or more hours in a job and fighting traffic. She's a complete idiot to have brought this kind of thing up like she understands a thing about the typical working woman.
It's one whore keeping the other.
Speaking of the late Senator Heinz, he was fast tracking to at least be considered a potential future presidential candidate before his death. albeit a real RHINO. If fate had not intervened, we would have already made our acquaintance of his wife. He appeared to be a man comfortable in his rich skin and now we have the 2nd Mr. Heinz, an idiot in all ways. No wonder TayRaySa drinks. overdoes the meds, or whatever makes her such a loose cannon.
The post analysis of W's victory will likely include the THK factor. This cow most likely cost JfnK 5% of the female vote. Should be great fun.
