FReeper Jolt2004, webmaster and campaign manager for Arkansas Senate candidate, Jim Holt, posted a notice on the state board that Blanche Lincoln has backed out of the first Senate debate that would have taken place on Monday in Ft. Smith. She is completely dependent on buying the office with her millions, but she knows she doesn't have a leg to stand on in honest debate on the issues.
There is still another debate between Lincoln and Holt, scheduled to air on CSPAN at 7 pm (central time) on Thursday, Oct. 28. If she doesn't chicken out of this one, too, I will post a live thread for that debate.
Anybody wanting on or off the Arkansas ping list, please let me know.
JFTR. RealClearPolitics has Lincoln up over Holt 19% in the last poll taken. Maybe she figures why debate when you're so far ahead. Nothing to gain, everything to lose. Can't believe Bush is carrying a state in the deep south and a liberal like Lincoln (Lifetime ACU rating = 22) is so far ahead of her GOP opponent.
Its a shame that Huckabee probably could have beaten Lincoln, but that a lesser-known candidate with the same views, opposing the same liberal, probably will not. As a result, Arkansas, like Louisiana with Landrieu, will have a Senator with views more akin to the northeast than the South representing them for the next 6 years.
But here's hoping a shocker results.
Then there's the woman in Indiana running for State Rep, I believe, who got "stage fright" in her first debate that was only being filmed, not even a real audience there.
It will get zero media attention. They don't want to do anything to lend credibility to any Republican candidate. Of course, with their own absolute absence of credibility these days, I don't see how they could lend it to anybody.
Who is the novice in a race for a congressional seat who couldn't face the pressure on camera and left the site of their debate right before it started?
As far as the RNC thinks, the seat is a write off.
The only thing we can hang our hats on is the tendency of GOP voters to vote all "R"s when they get their ballots.
At least that is what I always do.
After meeting Holt, I find he is a honest, devoted and fine man who deserves a chance to help right the sinking liberal ship of state.
Blanche has her heels dug in however, and she has appealed to the independents (really democrats who did not vote for Clinton in his second term) with millions in donations by the majority of Arkansas corporate interests.
This state is run, owned and operated by dems. The only thing that may upset the cart is the gay issue.We have a marriage amendment on the ballot and my hope is that Holt gets the benefit of that issue.

Those idiots thought that back in June, when this race was very winnable. If Holt had any money to advance his message, she would be on the ropes. Now it will take a miracle thanks to the stupid party.

Only one huge flaw - being a Republican (or a conservative) means that you do NOT simply act like a lemming like the democrats and simply hit the "party line".
That is how we get losers in office that call themselves 'republicans'

I have always voted party line on National elections, and don't plan to change.
But you can always do as you like.
I choose to support my party. That is what a party is about. Without loyalty there is not much point in them.
I am kinda surprised you think that is wrong. It is politics 101.
People who have a independent party affiliation can go and vote anyones platform, that is your choice. In Arkansas of all places, it is most important that party votes be made so that the party has some sort of clout.
Unfortunately, that is not the case here. Republicans are not loyal and the RNC knows this. Therefore, no support and there won't be any until the party has some strength.
I believe in building the party. I am a partyperson:-)

The party is weak here because it is not supported.
Some seem to think that is a good thing. Others, like myself think it is a shame.
But that is the reality. The RNC can't afford to put money down a dry hole, as the party loyalty is just not there.
You have no place to put the money that will guarantee any results.
Especially S. Dakota with Daschle.
A good example of what happens is a seat we had but lost with Hutchinson's divorce.
There was no reason for that. Ridiculous!
