We are collecting thousands of recall signatures during early voting. Please volunteer! You'll never be in better company. Our group is nonpartisan and entirely independent. You will meet hunderds of fellow citizens who want to sign the petition. All polling places are not manned and we need more help. Come by for materials, or download a petition from our website and get Austin voter's signatures. See web address: http://www.austintollparty.com
At our rally last Monday night, Rep. Todd Baxter stated he is FOR initiative and referendum rights and against tolling existing roads in Texas.

The GOP candidate is Askew.
Patrick Rose is one of the infamous Democrat 'flight risks' who absconded to Oklahoma in the last session... he's a partisan Democrat unworthy of anyone's support.

Anyway, a "Rose" by any other name would still be a stinkin' demagoguing Democrat.

Marie - looking forward to your move to Texas. (Bring plenty of spare change.) LOL!!
Bump!!

Special Taxing Districts... thousands of them... so evil...... That's an East Coast oligarchical gimmick to take the tax power semiprivate -- "entre nous" -- that was used a lot by New York's development dictator, Robert Moses.
Taking power away from the People is what these guys are all about, and it's public acquiescence in that kind of abuse that makes New York, New Jersey, and Massachusetts the kind of sinkhole of public virtue and DemonRat brainbog that they are today.

Just out of curiosity, would you know if there are many Austin FReepers? We're going to be living just north of there.

Austin is a hotbed of FReeper activity because it is so liberal. Let me connect you to one that knows more about Austin than I do.
Meek pick up the white phone and help this lady out.

To: Brownie74; Marie
Oh, yeah. I've got a ping list of Austin area Freepers I use to ping to articles now an then. There's quite a few in Austin. I just did a quick look. There are almost 100 of them there!
And that's just the one's on my ping list. Probably more Freepers there than on my list, too.

Thanks! It's good to know that I'll be among friends. Liberals do have some good things to offer. Organic food stores, straw bale workshops, arts and crafts fairs, etc. I never understood why, if a person is artistic and creative, they also have to be a commie. We'll be living about an hour north of the city. I figure that will put me close enough to enjoy the cultural things I'm interested in and far enough away to not be bothered by the socialist city policies on a day-to-day basis. I'm not so sure about the heat, but I suppose that if I can survive Arizona and Georgia, then Texas won't kill me! One, more question: Are there any good 4 year colleges for the kids in that area? I'd like to send my children to a place that won't undermine everything I've tried to teach them. Oh! And what's the current sales tax? Thank you! :-)

The current state sales tax is 8.25% and with the new law it is deductible from Federal tax. Baylor might be good and if you wanna spend big bucks, there's SMU in Dallas. It's only about 4 hours from Austin, so that'd be THREE hours if you're North of Austin.
