Title of article: What was your candidates biggest mistake?
She wrote:
George Bushs biggest mistake is not replying to this question with:
It is not my job to critique and publicize my mistakes. The media does this often and well, assisted perpetually by my opponents, acquiesced to by uninformed voters, and believed, without question, by personal and political enemies. Why should we all sing the same song? A better question would be to ask me to state my weaknesses or limitations/shortcomings. I would and have, readily stated that I have to depend on God, through prayer (mine and others) to guide me through the days and years. I do not have the ability to heal the afflicted, raise the dead, or fill every need in Anerica, like my opponent does. I do not have the power or the desire, to twist facts and issues that is so far over the electorates head that they think I am brilliant like my opponent. I am too ignorant to retreat from this war on terror that has, thus far, kept Americans safe at home, just to win an election. I am too ignorant to listen to polls when making decisions, thereby changing my position with the whim of the public WHO NEVER SAW ANY OF THE INTELLIGENCE THAT I SAW. I am to ignorant to point out to my opponent and the electorate that regardless of whether others think the war was necessary, it all happened on my watch, the onus was on me, not Kerry, my responsiblility was the U.S, not France, my oath was to the Constitution of the United States, not the U.N., I can stay or leave office knowing that I did what was right and that it worked. To date, the terrorists have not attacked American soil again, and youd better believe they wanted and planned to.
Does anybody really care what the The Al-Jazerra Constitution thinks? As a resident of the Atlanta area I can tell you it is widely disrespected.
I think, actually, it's what a regular person said in response to the question rather than an article by the AJC.
Or just "I'll leave that to history decide." Then shut up.
Amen!
I agree with you, I am just so very disappointed in this newspaper I can't even stand to see the name!
You know, I'm kinda new to this whole FR thing and didn't know a whole lot about many of the newspapers around the country - except for something obvious, like the NYT.
So I've really had an education as to how far to the extreme left many of them go. Sad.
What did you think of the content? I thought is was good and well thought out. My biggest complaint with Bush (earlier on, not so much now) is that he didn't communicate well why he did things - why it was important that we go into Iraq, why the war against Islamofascist terrorist is not limited to Afghanistan, etc. Although I still would like him - or better, one of his surrogates - talk about Kerry's record in the Senate and his illegal dealings with the VietCong after returning from his stint in Vietnam.
BTW, someone saw the title of this post and immediately called me a troll. They emailed me and harrangued me for saying "Bush's Biggest Mistake". Now, although they couldn't possibly have known that I'm as liberal as Ronald Reagan and Rush Limbaugh combined, it's clear they didn't read the content...
I thought the actual content of the post was excellent. Once in a while, (like 98% of the time), people around here will jump on someone who is new to posting. Welcome to Free Republic!
Welcome to FR.
Often the headline is misleading, and I suspect you added one (the headline) and two (the newspaper) then three (not reading the article) and got 1,217 instead of 6. Happens a lot so no big deal, but it can cause others to wonder if you are not what you seem when you are new.
There are often a lot of infiltrators to FR just before an election, so be prepared to take some hits if you seem to be more DU than FR. (The difference is usually obvious- irrational Vs reasoned comments.)
"Bush's Biggest Mistake"
Teading Sosa to Chicago?
IMO: The Main "mistake" President Bush made was NOT getting rid of the Clinton carry-overs as swiftly as possible... at the very least a house cleaning should have taken place after Sept. 11, 2001.
Good article. His "mistake" was doing what was right.
There must be some local papers that lean Right but I know that one is NOT here in Rochester. The Op-Ed pages of the D & C (ironic name) seem to be produced by 6 year olds.
BTTT
Thanks very much, LBS. Much obliged! That's the effect I was going for. : )
I may not be able to see very well right now, but I'm glad to hear I still got it.
I liked this article the title might even get some fence sitters to read. Not at all bad.
Bingo.
You got the point!
You're one of a few people that did...
Hey, how about I register on DU and post this? How long before they nuke me off the site?!??
It's a good one. Thanks for the link, ma'am.
