W.'S BIG BAD WOLVES

Pictures of a menacing pack of wolves are being used by President Bush's campaign in a tough new TV ad that contends John Kerry isn't strong enough to keep America safe from terror. "Weakness attracts those who are waiting to do America harm," says a woman's voice as the wolf pack stirs and starts on the prowl. The ad opens with shots of sunlight glinting through a dark forest as a mysterious, threatening animal not yet clearly identifiable as a wolf looms, a threat lurking in the dark.
"Even after the first terrorist attack on America, John Kerry and the liberals in Congress voted to slash America's intelligence operations. By $6 billion. Cuts so deep they would have weakened America's defenses," says the woman's voice.
"Wolves" is the clear descendant of a 1984 ad in which Ronald Reagan framed the debate with a bear lurking in the woods to symbolize the Cold War threat posed by the Russians. The ad asked, "Isn't it smart to be as strong as the bear?"
The Bush wolf ad infuriated Democrats. Kerry running mate John Edwards fumed, "They've stooped so low, now they're using a pack of wolves."
[snip]
Bush said Kerry "does not understand the enemy we face and has no idea how to keep America safe."
That prompted Kerry to insist: "I guarantee you I will leave no stone unturned to protect this country I love."

That prompted Kerry to insist: "I guarantee you I will leave no stone unturned to protect this country I love." Well, that takes care of France, but what about the USA, John?

Kerry will never use the military to fight terrorism. Afterall they'd be fighting for the US flag instead of his precious UN blue rag

To leave no stone unturned would necessitate crawling out from the one he's been hiding under for years. You know, the one with his 20 year senate record and his less than honorable discharge for treason?

It's a great ad and it's easy to see the parallel to the terrorists. Too bad Silky Pony isn't bright enough to see it.
So their response is going to be an Ostrich? Yeah, that'll work.

John Edwards fumed, "They've stooped so low, now they're using a pack of wolves." A pack of poodles would have been more accurate, but that just wouldn't have had the same visual impact.

John Edwards fumed, "They've stooped so low, now they're using a pack of wolves." Hey, could be worse--personally I think an ad associating the dems with cockroaches would be more appropriate.

Hey, could be worse--personally I think an ad associating the dems with cockroaches would be more appropriate.Nah, cockroaches are just a nuisance (dems are actually dangerous) and have far too much resilience (dem nature is to turn tail and run at the sight of any real threat, rather than to persist) to be the dems. OTOH, I like the idea of little dem bugs scurrying when the light is shone upon their ridiculous stances and arguments...
Besides, isn't the point of the wolves to signify the terrorists?! I think they're completely missing the point here - or rather, their true beliefs on the terrorists (that they aren't a real threat) are coming out...

Everyone knows that he "loathes" the military. There wouldn't be any respect between the top brass and JFK. Each would end up Loathing the other. Can you imagine Kerry being the Commander in Chief??? God help Us!
This could be a campaign angle not many people have considered! How would JFK and our military leaders get along? I believe that the atmosphere would be sour and volatile.

For what its worth. The Kerry ad promotes the myth that Ostriches bury thier heads in the sand. They dont do this of course.

"Even after the first terrorist attack on America, John Kerry and the liberals in Congress voted to slash America's intelligence operations.
That would have a little more sting in it if Bush's nominee to head the CIA, Porter Goss, didn't vote for the same (if not more) cuts as well.
