Dr. Phil's abortion show

Please pass this on to all your pro-life connections.

Dr. Phil has an extremely popular show, and I'm usually a fan. However, I'm very disappointed that he's planning a show discussing when a woman should have an abortion. Please write the show an email and let him know what you think:

It says "please only write if you want to be on the show". Disregard. They need to know this is unacceptable.

Please get the word out to as many people as possible.

God Bless.

I think not only should abortions be allowed in cases of rape,

The child should not pay in any way for the father's crime, much less pay with her life.

but the rapist should be emasculated.

Now that I agree with wholeheartedly.

I could agree with a post-natal abortion of the rapist.

A .45 caliber post-natal abortion...

wow - takes courage to post that.

You should read Aristotle and Plato's views concerning potential. I think you will find that your argument falls apart.

Great tagline. It is so true. This really bothers me. I just cannot believe that he is going to have a show that would advocate abortion. If he does this, he will have so many angry women and men filing complaints. Ugghhh! Anyone who does not believe that a fetus is a human being is deluding themselves. There is no excuse! Even if the woman was raped, it is not justifiable. Why should she put herself above the life of an unborn child? It is really frustrating when I hear women trying to "justify" their actions. Also, they have the nerve to call it "women's rights"! I am a woman and this is not a right. It is a selfish act and it is murder, plain and simple.

You posted a wonderful and very accurate message! I totally agree with you on every point, especially the following:

"That means that almost every single abortion is done for convenience and extremely rarely out of necessity."

Thanks,
Joy

Thanks for your post! I will send this information to some women who support abortion and "women's rights". Your post is more comprehensive than what I have previously stated to them.

By the way, my undergraduate degree is in Biology. Life absolutely begins at conception. When I took an Embryology course and a Genetics course, it was so amazing to see how life develops from conception to birth. Also, the designation of genes from mother/father to child is quite fascinating. If someone says that an embryo or a fetus is not a life, then he/she is either ignorant about what constitutes life or just delusional.

Christians in the name of Christianity, need to stop calling those on the other side murderers, when they do not know that is an absolute truth...

See, here's the problem: We, Christians, can only use our faith as a roadmap to absolute truth -- not science or politics. And our faith tells us that abortion is murder. It's an uncomplicated belief system and, in my view, it's a good alternative to sophistry like the kind that you're selling...

No, you're right on the money.

I hate it when people say: well, what if she was raped; they baby would remind her of it forever.

The majority of the rhetoric in this greatest debate of Our Time - including much of the pro-life rhetoric - places the mother at the center as though she were the only one affected by the decision, and as though she were the most affected of the parties affected by the decision.

Rape is awful. Abortion, by, contrast, is horrific.

Now, assuming we accept the premise that the mother is a) the only one affected [by the decision to have an abortion] and b) the most affected: How is visiting the death penalty on her own child going to assuage the pain and guilt she feels about the reprehensible violation of her own body in the act of rape? Yes, women feel guilt from rape. Compound that with the guilt of severing the maternal bond through murder - which guilt no amount of Planned Parenthood propoganda, no number of shallow, plastic smiles can undo.

No, we can do much, much better than abortion for rape.

And yes, emasculation of rapists is a good idea. So is capital punishment for rapists pending the victims' decision to kill the baby as long as Roe v. Wade remains legal (which is must not much longer if we are to survive as a civil socient): He indirectly caused the murder of an innocent human being.

You appear to speak for all Christians, Many of whom do not believe in absolutes, in fact I would say from my own experience, that you are a rare Christian if you do believe in absolutes. I believe you are wrong when you do not include science in you list of absolutes for science based on revealed truth received by man from the source of all truth must be considered true and worthwhile.

I beleive your personal opinion tells you that abortion is murder. The scriptures certainly do not, and I believe that Christians calling those who support the so called "womens health" movement, and "choice" after conception, are guilty of emboldening those who are already on the path to destruction, and you leave them no out, and therefor the empasse between the two sides of the argument. I have already stated my believe that neither side is dealing with a full deck, and my point is not to justify either side. Abortion is wrong, but the actions of Christians vis-a-vis those with the wrong ideas, are not helping the situation, and both remain unbending, and unable to listen to other ideas or possible solutions.

It's the same as the War on drugs, and the situation that will bring no solutions, ie don't confuse me with the facts, my mind is made up, and thus cutting off all dialog, and what remains is not good for anyone, especially the million or so aborted in this country alone every year, if that is a valid statistic.

Here is specifically what the website says:

Did you just find out there's something wrong with your baby and you don't know whether to keep it? Were you impregnated against your will and don't know if you should keep the baby? Are you struggling between what's best for the baby and what's best for you? If so, write us your story.

To be fair, it doesn't say he's going to "tell" women when to have an abortion. I could pose these same questions and have pro-life replies. OTOH, though I generally like Dr. Phil, it won't surprise me if he does in fact do the culturally popular thing by giving some of these women "permission" to abort.

I just sent them this:

I see you are planning a program to discuss when women should have abortions. I want to suggest some topics for future shows: When should a family poison Grandma? When should wives beat their husbands' brains in? When should children be raped? There is NO time when a woman should have an abortion, because EVERY time a woman has an abortion, an innocent, defenseless baby ends up dead.

Another aspect of pregnancy-resulting-from-rape that most people do not realize is that women who carry those babies to term survive the trauma of the rape "better" than those women who abort the pregnancy.

There have been only 2 studies done of raped women who carried to term. Both found the same results.

Not long ago, I read about an attempt to have such women testify before Congress. I don't know what came of it, if anything.

For more information, look at the website, www.afterabortion.org .

You appear to speak for all Christians, Many of whom do not believe in absolutes, in fact I would say from my own experience, that you are a rare Christian if you do believe in absolutes.

I'm not going to get sucked into an overly broad, abstract discussion of Christian theology. The Bible is very clear on this particular issue: Thou shalt not kill. An unborn baby is not the equivalent of an arm or leg. It's an independent human organism. When you destroy it, you are killing a human being.

I believe you are wrong when you do not include science in you list of absolutes for science based on revealed truth received by man from the source of all truth must be considered true and worthwhile.

Science is useless in resolving this issue.

I beleive your personal opinion tells you that abortion is murder. The scriptures certainly do not...

If you're looking for a specific passage in the Bible that says, "Thou shalt not abort unborn human beings", you're not going to find one. But, then again, you're likewise not going to find a passage that says, "Thou shalt not sexually abuse altar boys". And therein lies the problem: You want to see ambiguity in the Scriptures. You don't want to clarify this issue -- you want to confuse it by insisting that the Scriptures aren't specific enough for your liking. I say that an unborn human being is a human being -- regardless of the fact that it is separated from the world by a few layers of human tissue. It's not mere tissue. It's not an animal. It's not sub-human. It's a human being that deserves our protection and care.

... and I believe that Christians calling those who support the so called "womens health" movement, and "choice" after conception, are guilty of emboldening those who are already on the path to destruction, and you leave them no out, and therefor the empasse between the two sides of the argument.

There's always an out. Choose life. It's not that difficult. There are plenty of couples that are looking to give a home to a newborn child.

I completely disagree with that sentiment. If Christians cannot stand on the fundamental principle of respecting the sanctity of life, then every other principle that they embrace means nothing. Zippo. Zilch. They might as well disband.

It's the same as the War on drugs, and the situation that will bring no solutions, ie don't confuse me with the facts, my mind is made up, and thus cutting off all dialog, and what remains is not good for anyone, especially the million or so aborted in this country alone every year, if that is a valid statistic.

There can be no compromise on this issue. You either defend life -- or you don't.
