Canada's products are usually more expensive aren't they? This is a good question.

I agree with you Doug, and I'm from you-know-where.
I never understood the criticism leveled against America for being the ones to go in and make money rebuilding Iraq.
Those who pay the biggest price, do most of the hard work and suffer the loss of life should get any benefit there may be in the rebuilding process.

I knew the bidders involved in a recent commercial job. The two best bids were very close. I will be making some calls on Monday. Especially where our government is concerned, American products have to be used. In some cases, that cannot be done. For example, no one in the U.S. manufactures ceiling fans. If the government buys them, they must import them. But with window film, it is made here and should be bought here.

That stinking country (Canada) would not support us in Operation Iraqi Freedom. Canada may not support the U.S. in Iraq; however, they are doing an excellent job in Afghanistan. France and Germany, among many others (including Mexico Bush's favorite neighbor) are conspicuously absent in both regions.

Perhaps the price or availability was better from the Canada offering?

Click on the video. Pretty darn cool. That being said, if the quality was the same, they should have gone with an American company.

A side point. A Victoria, Canada man died in Iraq a few months ago. He was a security expert responsible for protecting GE execs. When militants attacked the GE car, he and his co-combatants drove their vehicle in between the line of fire and engaged the enemy. He was killed in the firefight. Man, it was great to be proud of a fellow Canadian. I realize he was making money, probably very good money for his services, but I certainly wouldn't have the balls to do that.

Could it be that this company has an established relationship with your Military and having been used before, has a known commodity?
