Conservative author survives creamy stage-left attack

OCTOBER 22--Meet Phillip Edgar Smith and William Zachary Wolff. The Tucson men, both 24, were arrested last night after throwing cream pies at author Ann Coulter during her speech at the University of Arizona. One pie connected with the conservative commentator's shoulder. Smith, a UA student, and Wolff were charged with criminal damage, a felony, and misdemeanor counts of disorderly conduct and assault. The felony charge resulted from damage to a backdrop that school officials estimated at $3000. The pie provocateurs were booked into the Pima County Adult Detention Center--where the below mug shots were snapped--and scheduled for a court appearance today. If you're wondering about the sheets Smith and Wolff are wearing, they're not Bedouins. As a courtesy, the Pima jailers use them to cover the lockup's standard-issue orange jumpsuits. (1 page)

Where are her body guards? I hope this is a wake up call to her and her people.

She may not need to travel with a body guard but she certainly needs to have at least two whenever she appears in public and she needs to make sure the venue has their own trained security people.
I wish people would not take this pie throwing as a joke or as something humorous when it happens to some one the other side. It is assault pure an simple. Like any other assault it is designed to hurt, intimidate and destroy someone’s sense of security. The media love it, and love to publish the pictures, which further humiliates the victim and advances the goals of the people.
The authorities need to prosecute this to the full extent of the law. I think the Justice Department should get involved; because it is a clear violation of the Constituional right to freedom of speech, to assault a speaker because you do not like what they are saying.

I was just as angry(and you should be too) when Ralph Nader was attacked, as I am now when Ann Coulter is attacked.

These guys are famous but look what they are famous for. Throwing pies at Ann Coulter and missing her. Athletes they're not. They missed their target and they couldn't run fast enough to get away. Brainiacs they're not because they didn't think this through a little better. I am no prize but I don't have to be, I'm married with five kids. But these guys won't get a date for the next 20 years because of their loser reputation. From the looks of them they were already suffering form the uncahritable laws of nature.
