National Election Eve Candlelight Vigil


November 1, 2004

Lighting a Path for Democracy

Gather with your friends and neighbors:

To hold our nation in the light. To show that democracy matters. To call for clean elections. To remember the things we all care about — peace, justice, security.

Build democracy. Vote November 2.

This is a nonpartisan effort sponsored by the American Friends Service Committee. Endorsing organizations to date include:

Baltimore, MD - two vigils

Election Eve Candlelight Vigil: For Peace, Justice and Democracy

Planned to coincide with commuters leaving work, this vigil will help gather attention to the issues and the importance of voting on November 2 nd.

Salisbury, MD

November 2nd

Instead of a vigil the night before the elections, the Friends Meeting in Salisbury, Maryland, open for worship and a prayer of healing for all of Election Day

The public is invited to an open house at Wicomico River Friends Meeting on November 2nd in order to pray for the well being of our democracy and the healing of our nation. All are welcome to drop by before or after they vote for the quiet of Quaker worship and to stay as long as they would like. During the coming days we offer heartfelt prayers for all those involved in the elective process.


Winston-Salem, NC

Oh, goodie. Hell, they're even gonna have a "peace" rally in Zimbabwe. Since it's against President Bush (non-partisan my ass!) I suppose the butcher Mugabe is wholeheartedly endorsing it.
