NEW PORT RICHEY - Pasco Elections Supervisor Kurt Browning does not provide door-to-door courier service for absentee ballots. He warned Thursday of a potential scam involving individuals saying they are from his staff who may be canvassing neighborhoods offering to return some of the 35,200 absentee ballots issued for the Nov. 2 election.
``I need to make it very clear that my office will never show up at your place of residence to collect your absentee ballot,'' Browning said in a release. ``The proper procedure for returning your absentee ballot is to send it via mail, submit it in person or submit it via a trusted individual such as a family member.''
An elderly woman reported that someone came to her New Port Richey home Wednesday to collect her absentee ballot. When the woman said it was not ready, the visitor bolted with the blank ballot, according to Melba Hamilton, Browning's chief deputy.
She said similar stories were surfacing in Pinellas and Manatee counties.
Browning had warned of strangers soliciting personal voter information days before the Aug. 31 primary.
A new ballot was issued to the New Port Richey woman. Through late Thursday, 18,132 absentee ballots had been returned to the supervisor's office.
Nearly 6,200 people have cast early ballots since Monday. The breakdown is 2,670 Republicans, 2,516 Democrats and 1,006 voters registered to other parties or with no party affiliation.
Usuall the "no party affiliations" vote Republican. Good news. 3 to 2

Sounds like someone will decide this woman's vote for her.
Since it looks to me like the Ted Kennedy machine is the puppetmaster behind Kerry, he must be behind this whole vote fraud mess as well. It makes me wonder if this is how John Kennedy got elected.
Kennedy is strictly elected on his brothers' names ....
The Mass voters have no mind, no thought beyond their worship of his name.
Same scam as the Manatee Co. story yesterday. I hope they catch these criminals.
