Congressional hopeful Patty Wetterling, the target of recent TV ads contesting her views, is asking Twin Cities TV stations to pull a Republican Party ad that her lawyer calls "false and libelous."

GOP Rep. Kennedy's ads basically say that Patty Wetterling is naive and clueless. So even her "I didn't know" and "I don't share their views" defense simply reinforces that charge. I mean, that's like saying that you didn't know that terrorists were really bad people.

and here are the Star&Sickle's (ALL pro-Patty letters-none for Kennedy) to the editor today:

Residents of Minnesota's Sixth Congressional District are indeed fortunate to have Mark Kennedy representing them in Congress. According to his advertisements, "Mark Kennedy lowered [their] taxes!" or "Mark Kennedy fought the terrorists!"

Funny, I always thought things like this were products of a passed congressional budget or law and signed by the president. I did not know Minnesota harbored such a powerful man who could do all these things single-handedly!

And to top it off, Mark Kennedy, has brought to light all these nasty un-American organizations that contributed to his opponent, a woman of impeccable morals (Patty Wetterling) We can be sure all the money he used in his campaign only came from organizations whose philosophies he subscribes to 100 percent, such as the ultra-right-wing Freedom Project ($5,000), the National Rifle Association (at least $4,950) and the Texas Freedom Fund ($2,000).

This is Minnesota. We're better than this.

Keith Reed, Rosemount.

What kind of a person lies about someone like Patty Wetterling?

Wetterling is a wonderful person who has done great things for Minnesota through her foundation. What has Mark Kennedy ever done for Minnesota?

While I voted for President Bush in 2000, I am disgusted by Kennedy's campaign tactics.

Nils Borgas, Plymouth.

I wonder how Mark Kennedy can look himself in the mirror every day. The attacks his campaign and his party are making against Patty Wetterling are an embarrassment.

I deeply admire Patty Wetterling for the fight over the past years to make real improvements in people's lives. I also admire her for stepping forward as a leader and entering the race for public office -- something so many people are afraid to do (gee, I wonder why).

And now I really admire her for not engaging in the same dirty tactics that her opponent has resorted to.

Jeff Bartleson, Minneapolis.

They can call Republicans baby killers, warmongerers, liars, wanting to starve children and old people, wanting to resegregate the south... but if a Republican tells the truth it is libelous??

I guess City Pages had a good article about her basically
being harassed by the left until she would run.
Now John Walsh (America's Most Wanted) is teaming up with
her to bah those mean republicans.
I used to like his show ,but he's pretty anti-gun.This only
further proves it.

What the hell does Patti Wetterling know about anything? I'm sorry her kid was abducted, but that doesn't make her qulified for the job. What else has she ever done? Has she ever held elected office? She isn't qualified to be county dog catcher, much less a congressman.
