my local union steward told me I should have been at the Kerry rally here today (MN) to learn how he's going to protect the 2nd Amendment.I said I would have gone had I been able to ask him about his support for S.1413. She didn't know what it was. When I told her it would ban the guns he allegedly hunts with including the 1187 and 1100 Remington, she said "what are those?, I know nothing about guns". I replied "either does Kerry" and she walked out.

In Kerry-speak, it's referred to as the "Metrosexual Dome", just like "Lambert Field".

Did he have a HUGH crowd? FORGET the polls, let's go by crowd numbers!! I think I heard W pulled 44,000 in one of his stops in PA, what about sKerry?

The rally was OUTSIDE the dome, in the street, at rush hour. I think a few commuters were a little POed. The local news anchors said "several hundred" but showed a street pretty much full of kool-aid drinkers.

A Metronome rally? I bet that was exciting.

"Fred Hoiberg, a guard for the Minnesota Timberwolves, was among those who took the stage to announce his support for Kerry."
OK, Freddy, I'm no longer your fan.

I think they call it the Humptydome, in honor of HHH, for whom its named.
My gesture to honor HHH is one of his quotes, to illustrate how all Democrats (and most Republicans) have become inconceivably liberal in two generations:
"Certainly one of the chief guarantees of freedom under any government, no matter how popular and respected, is the right of citizens to keep and bear arms. This is not to say that firearms should not be very carefully used, and that definite safety rules of precaution should not be taught and enforced. But the right of citizens to bear arms is just one more guarantee against arbitrary government, one more safeguard against tyranny which now appears remote in America, but which historically has proved to be always possible"
Senator Hubert H. Humphrey (D) Minn.

I was gonna walk over and listen to it. I work in downtown Mpls.
But I said "Screw It" and went home to do some off-site voter ID data entry for B-C'04.
It was time better spent.
I can't wait to see how Channel 4 and 11 cover it tonight.
They'll likely make it appear bigger than it was.

He was a liberal who believed in liberty.
(Note that the quote I posted has been published in many variations. I sourced it back to the original publication, and have been working to send out corrections.)

I just watched the 10PM news on Channel 4 and they quoted a fire marshal who estimated the crowd at 30000.
I can only tell you what I saw on TV and it didn't look like 30000 to me.
Channel 4 (aka W-DFL) took one of those wide-angle shots and it looked like 5000 tops.
Were any Freepers stealthing around there? Opinions anyone?
To: MplsSteve
They went in on the gate D side of the building, then to the right. It appeared that they were in some sort of pit area. I was looking for sKerry protesters outside of the fence but couldn't find any, so I left.
I heard "It's" voice on the load speakers, for the past few hours I have been trying to stop the bleeding.

Bush's rally in St. Paul, Mn prior to the convention was near 20,000. His rally in Chanhassen recently was about the same size. If Kerry was at the Metrodome, on the outside, there is simply no way I will believe the crowd size was the 10s of thousands they claimed in the Star Tribune. The area is not very big outside the Metrodome.
