Being George Steinbrenner
Biggest choke in sports history by the team with the biggest payroll in the biggest rivalry in sports. Needless to say it's a safe bet that George Steinbrenner is well on his way to insanity. Page 2 looks inside Steinbrenner's head to find out just how far along he is:
Anyway, the Yankees just committed the biggest collapse in baseball history, that cannot be disputed. The biggest choke, that's debatable, but definitely right up there.
The Mariners announced the hiring of Mike Hargrove yesterday.
Giambi was a BALCO client. He's got lower joint problems (which is consistant with roid usage) and he's going down hill. His defense sucks and at best, he's a DH.
That's right, thought that was Showalter.
The past is not relevant in this case, it was a Chizzz-oke!
No team has ever done what the sox did. Or what the yankees did either.
Each team is essentially new after about 5 years. The fact that they won in the late 90's is meaningless here.
Hargrove was announced
Ya got that right. The team looked like it was on sleeping pills and past their bedtime. They watched the fat pitches float by and struck out on stuff outside the strike zone. The Red Sox with superior team play outdid the Yankees all year. Torre the bucks stopped for you.
Given the number of teams teh wild card is neeeded. And yes, that is how they got in. after winning almost one hundred games and beating the Yankees 11 out of 19 times this year, let alone crushing the top teams in the west.
The 'Damned' Wild card team has disposed of two division winners.
In 2002 the Wild Card team won it all.
I disagree, the Blue Jays were supposed to be a good Team this year (god knows what happened there), and if the O's were in the central division they would have given The twins a run.
The Marlins were the wildcard last year, too.
By unselfish desire to win, do you mean knocking a ball out of a pitcher's hand (like a little blue-lipped b***h)?
You're right. I stopped caring after Boone's home run.
Right.
>>>>Sometimes I even root for them.
Right. LOL
>>>>However, when your team has just lost, particularly in embarrassing fashion, you do not point to all the titles your team has won over the years. It's a losers response to talk about the past.
Baloney! In this case, you do point out the history of the Yankees, when the team is trashed from a bunch of lowlifes. This isn't the Detroit Psitons, LA Lakers or the Notre Dame either. This is the Yankees. Love'm or hate'm. I love'm and I'll defend them every opportunity I get. Losers always overlook history.
>>>>We're talking about this year.
I congratualed Boston and said they were the better team. If that's not good enough, tough.
Yah and I think Randy Johnson might be one of them, but Steinbreener didn't want to give Posada to the D'backs before the deadline so I'm not sure who he'd trade. The pitching dilemma might keep the Yanks out of the Carlos Beltran sweepstakes, though.
Well if it wasn't the Yankees who Boston beat, people wouldn't be reacting the way they are. This is an opportunity to trash the Yanks. I don't expect Yankee fans to sit back and allow the team they love and support to be trashed by people who hate them. I wouldn't expect that from the fans of any team, in any sport.
That's Torre with two rs.
Get over it. It's part of the game and most players would have done the same thing A-Rod did. If you believe otherwise, you're naive as they come.
Dittos on Angelos being an idiot.
Bet you're a real fun guy to be around. Doom and gloomer! LOL
I'm lot's of fun....jumped up and and down and yelled after watching my Red Sox win.
and those numbers you show for Giambi simply aren't worth what they will be paying him over the next 4 years.
