Believe it.
Do you know why George Bush, and not Jeb Bush, is President of the United States today?
Because in 1994, as Jeb Bush was about to defeat Lawton Chiles in his first race for Governor, the Democrats started calling senior citizens and telling them that Jeb Bush was going to take away their Social Security and Medicare! The Chiles campaign admitted it after the election. Jeb Bush lost by less than 1%.
Do you know why Ellen Sauerbrey is not enjoying her second term as Maryland's governor?
Because in 1999, as Sauerbrey was about to defeat Parris Glendening, Democrats ran a TV ad and made phone calls to black voters in Baltimore telling them that Sauerbrey "voted against a civil rights bill." (BTW, that campaign was run by none other than one Robert Shrum, senior adviser to the Kerry "campaign.") Even Baltimore Mayor Kurt Schmoke condemned the ads and refused to join the attack on Sauerbrey. She lost by less than 1%.
Democrats are capable of anything. And we already know they tried to suppress the military vote in 2000. They know the procedures for the actual voting have been tightened up, and they can't get military votes thrown out this time, so they are trying to suppress the military votes with these despicable phone calls. I totally believe this story because it is totally in character with this crowd of Democrats.
"I'm a liberal Democrat. I started in Florida politics. I worked for George McGovern. I worked for Jimmy Carter. I've worked for Ted Kennedy, Mario Cuomo. Nobody can question, I think, my credentials and my convictions. But I have to tell you, at this point it's hard to believe, but my party, the party that [my family has] belonged to since my great-great-grandfather, ... has become no longer a party of principles, but has been hijacked by a CONFEDERACY OF GANGSTERS who need to take power by whatever means and whatever canards they can."
