Two questions..
Doesn't there need to be a willing plantiff? How is an animal's thought process to be determined?
Can't the accused demand the planfiff appear in person? Are they going to bring a Right Whale into the courtroom?
I've advised my son to change his speciality in law school to representing hampsters and voles.

The qualification for having rights is the general potential to respect rights. It’s this reciprocal relationship that empowers rights as an effective social control mechanism. Otherwise our relationships are based on force, like those of animals.

The fact that this was even considered by a federal court is mind-boggling -- "last nail in the coffin" proof that the U.S. is indeed way overdue for massive judicial reform.
I wonder if this is the same Lanny Sinkin that 'made his bones' as a environmental whacko in San Antonio some years ago.
I believe his cause then was some snail darters (minnows) that lived in some hill country springs (whenever they didn't run dry)...[Cost: 5 billion to citizens in water rights about access to underground acquafir]
Or maybe it was the endangered species of spiders that lived in some caves...? [Cost: untold and incalcuable since it made some of the most desirable land around San Antonio for development off-limits]
