A three-judge panel of the U.S. 9th Circuit Court of Appeals in San Francisco, widely considered one of the most liberal and activist in the country, said it saw no reason why animals should not be allowed to sue but said they had not yet been granted that right.
Mrs. Edwards is rumored to be very disappointed at this news...
Two questions..
Doesn't there need to be a willing plantiff? How is an animal's thought process to be determined?
Can't the accused demand the planfiff appear in person? Are they going to bring a Right Whale into the courtroom?
I've advised my son to change his speciality in law school to representing hampsters and voles.
Can Gerbils sue Richard Gere and all the other butt boys?
sick sick sick. I'm getting close to saying we are lost.
"Everyone talks about animal rights, but nobody talks about animal responsibilities."
LOL You're a HOOT!
(rut ro! is that mammal profiling?)
The qualification for having rights is the general potential to respect rights. Its this reciprocal relationship that empowers rights as an effective social control mechanism. Otherwise our relationships are based on force, like those of animals.
How many pages do I have left?
The fact that this was even considered by a federal court is mind-boggling -- "last nail in the coffin" proof that the U.S. is indeed way overdue for massive judicial reform.
I wonder if this is the same Lanny Sinkin that 'made his bones' as a environmental whacko in San Antonio some years ago.
I believe his cause then was some snail darters (minnows) that lived in some hill country springs (whenever they didn't run dry)...[Cost: 5 billion to citizens in water rights about access to underground acquafir]
Or maybe it was the endangered species of spiders that lived in some caves...? [Cost: untold and incalcuable since it made some of the most desirable land around San Antonio for development off-limits]
So many species, so little time.
