EAU CLAIRE, Wisconsin (CNN) -- A White House spokesman denied Wednesday that President Bush told Christian Coalition founder Pat Robertson that he did not expect casualties from the invasion of Iraq.

"The president never made such a comment," White House press secretary Scott McClellan said.

As if W would be moron enough to insist to anyone that there would be no casualties.

That's what I dislike about Robertson. He's always saying "God told him ..." He's been wrong before, so who was wrong, God or Pat???

Just curious!

Next time he sits down for coffee with God perhaps he can ask him when the world will end. It may save us all some hassle.

People like Robertson give bad name to normal christians who believe the truth of the Bible, not PR's view of it.

No disrespect to any Freeper. but I find Pat Robertson's honest and integrity only slightly higher, if at all than John Kerry's. To go into ancient history he used his dad's position as a US senator to avoid being sent as a Marine Lt to Korea. His friend from that time Peter McCloskey tells the story of the two about to ship over for Korea and Robertson's orders coming through keeping him stateside. Someone mentioned on another thread of Robertson's business and especially his mining interests in Africa and his dealings with African dictators. CBN does good and necessary work, like TNT and TCM create and preserve good films. It doesn't make me like Ted Turner.CBN doesn't hide the odor generated by Pat Robertson.

One other thing, I take God's talking to me as inspiration, awareness, and maybe epiphany. I don't recall him giving me the casualty totals in Iraq, the score of tonight's Sawx game or six good numbers. To claim such personal communication is, IMHO, pompous, egotistical, and borderline sacriligeous. I apologize to those Freepers who feel offended. I mean you know offense, but I just cannnot take Pat robertson.

It's funny what rumors can accomplish with some people here on F.R.
Now, Fruitbat, I would like you to tell me when and where YOU have heard him saying that. I have watched his 700 Club daily for years, and I have NEVER, EVER heard him say things like that. Maybe you confused him with another Evangelist, I have heard Oral Roberts say that. Please get your facts strait before you knock down one of God's real people who steadfast is fighting for American family values that are going down in the gutter!!!

If you were watching his 700 Club daily you would never ask such a stupid question or listening to rumors!!!

This isn't a rumor. This is what he said. And he said it with, IMNHO, malicious intent because Bush didn't bail out his good buddy and diamond-mining partner Charles Taylor, ex-thug-in-chief of Liberia.

Yeah, it's a fair question.

I find it disconcerting that so many pile on Pat Robertson so fast. I don't watch him, but I think you have to take anything reported by CNN with a grain of salt.

Most of us have not been interviewed by conniving liberal reporters who only want to smear our name and beliefs. It is pretty easy to get tricked into saying something they can use for ammunition.

I am disappointed Robertson did not use more caution in dealing with these snakes. He should know better.

It is obvious that Bush did not believe we would have no casualties. Of course, all of us hope for no casualties, or at least as few as possible.

This does not apply to liberals or Muslim fanatics. Both groups are glad to hear of American casualties.

After having read his statements following the initial incident, I'm convinced.

I'm convinced Pat either heard what he wanted to hear and is too prideful to re-examine that conversation, or that he is flat out lying.

The President has a record of stating there would be casualties. To state otherwise is not to be believed against a back drop of documents and film footage.

I believe the President. All evidence supports G.W. All factual evidence is against Pat. My loyalties are with the President and the facts.

It would be historic. The first time they ever took Pat Robertson's word on anything.

That is exactly my take on it, Soul Seeker. They cannot both be right. God is not the Author of confusion. Pat Robertson ends up on CNN giving his rendition. Hardly the place of spiritual conversations. I am convinced that one is being led by the spirit, and one is being led by the vanity of the flesh. My confidence is in President Bush.

Pat Robertson pulls out a knife and stabs GWB in the back.

This will benefit Kerry which supports all kinds of baby killing.

Roberston...I hope GOD puts you in a right mind or else you will get what you deserve.Give away all your money and stop your properity preaching......telling folks they will get rich when they send you money......I hope you repent before it's too late.

Unbelieveable, I can't believe he said what he said. He just dropped down 5 notches on my respect list. The timing of this is terrible.

Robertson, an ardent Bush supporter, told CNN in an interview Tuesday night that he urged the president to prepare the American people for the prospect of casualties before launching the war in March 2003.

Robertson said Bush told him, " 'Oh, no, we're not going to have any casualties.' "

Sure, that's what he said, Pat, and that big bunny wearing glasses in the corner of your bedroom is really there.

Americans understand the costs of conflict because we have paid them in the past. War has no certainty except the certainty of sacrifice.
George W. Bush, March 17, 2003

This was just before the Iraq war started, when he gave Saddam the 48 hour ultimatum. He would not have been talking about sacrifices if he expected no casualties.

I vote for the latter--he's been very pi$$y towards Bush ever since he refused to send the Marines in to protect his diamond mining endeavors in Liberia.

Pat chose to go on CNN.

He has his own show, the 700 Club. He hasn't corrected this yet has he? Has he appeared on FOX?

Which leads me to believe the quotations are accurate. Pat could easily correct this through other news outlets if he hadn't said it. Why the delay to do so?
