Iowa: Congressman fumes over public display of his record
Latino Division of Iowa Democratic Party pretty steamed, too

AgJOBS Amnesty

Congressman Leonard Boswell is co-sponsoring Chris Cannon's massive AgJOBS amnesty.

AgJOBS not only puts illegal aliens on the path to citizenship, it allows them, as a final shafting of the American people, to access public money to pay the fees of the immigration lawyers who prepare their amnesty applications.

Democratic Congressman Leonard Boswell arrived in Chariton, Iowa yesterday for a campaign rally and was greeted on the highway into town by large signs reading,

"Congressman Leonard Boswell supports amnesty for illegal aliens."

In answer to an email query, I received this report of the rally from a young supporter in the area:

Lets just say he DEFINITELY saw them!

A democrat who attended told me that his aides and him were talking about the sign when they got there and then he asked the crowd if they knew who was putting them up. Because he would like to catch them "red-handed." He claimed that they were illegal because it was an advertisement or something like that? ????? My source said he wasn't very happy!!!! <---GOOD!

So now Rep. Boswell is a stickler for the letter of the law? You have to laugh, really.

Millions of foreign nationals can reside in the United States in open violation of our laws, and this American lawmaker wants to reward them with U.S. citizenship. But let a few high school students peacefully exercise the political rights guaranteed them by the laws of the country into which they were born, and their congressman wants to throw the book at them.

ProjectUSA will pay the $25 ticket for littering or whatever violation has the congressman upset, and then, since he's so eager to "catch" citizens advertising his position on immigration, when he gets back to Washington, I'll walk over to 1427 Longworth with a big red sign that says, "Congressman Leonard Boswell supports amnesty for illegal aliens." I'll stick it right where he can see it while he's cleaning out his desk.

How's that for "red-handed," Congressman?

I don't know what it is about billboards, but it turns out Rep. Boswell isn't the only angry person in Iowa. I learned from a reporter at the Des Moines Register yesterday that the Latino DIVISION of the Iowa Democratic Party has denounced our billboards for being DIVISIVE.

+== QUOTE OF THE WEEK ==+

"To speak up about something, you don't need to be a U.S. citizen. You can be anyone."

Francisco Hernandez
Latino Outreach Coordinator, Iowa Democratic Party
Des Moines Register, March 11, 2004

+== EMAIL OF THE WEEK ==+

I live in Urbandale Iowa and have been subscribed to your ezine for quite a while. I actually did not know that our Congressman Boswell had such a bad record on immigration. Are there any activities in which one could get involved in your campaign?

Johnathan Bensley

Since you asked...

It's my guess that if the Des Moines Register ever stopped celebrating the diversity for a minute and asked Rep. Boswell a question on a topic that's actually important -- and that its readers actually care about -- like, say,"Congressman, do you support an amnesty for illegal aliens?" Rep. Boswell would answer, "No."

If he says no, he is lying. If he says yes, he loses the election.

For the next fourteen days, his constituents who oppose amnesties for illegal aliens (that would be roughly 80% of them) should be calling his campaign office (515 243-1418), finding out where he is having his next rally, and attending.

If we can think of a slogan, ProjectUSA could provide a few signs to hold up at Boswell rallies, and some handouts with a few simple points armed with which anyone can easily stop a congressman from lying about the AgJOBS amnesty. --CN

What you fail to understand is the DemocRAT thinking.....

An illegal breaks a law...that is a double negative, therefore it's legal.

See, there you go. Took me a while to get it too.

Glad we have this mess cleared up < /sarcasm >

Here's the article from this morning's DM Red Star:

http://www.dmregister.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20041020/NEWS09/410200331/1001/NEWS

Boswell's opponent, Stan Thompson, is a bright young man from DM. da Boz had to move off his farm after reapportionment and into DM to keep his seat. The Union Dems get along okay with him, but the young Dems have a serious problem with him. Thompson has a real shot at it.

Alex Orozco, a Mexican immigrant who has lived in Des Moines for more than five years and works with immigrant victims of crime, said the signs promote racism, intolerance and discrimination.

"This is one more proof of the lies Project USA has been using to influence the population to hate people who are here to survive and work just like everybody else," he said.

Ask him if he'd like some queso to go with his vino.

John-Paul Chaisson-Cardenas, administrator for the Iowa Division of Latino Affairs, said Project USA's signs send a strong message to immigrants that they are not welcome, while also serving as a scare tactic to make white voters fear a "Latino invasion."

"Most people cannot distinguish Latinos from immigrants," Chaisson-Cardenas said.

Hey-hey, let's do the Latinista!

I heard Stan on Mickelson a couple months ago. He was awful. It was pathetic. I know he was on again last week but I didn't hear it. I hope it was better.

I hope he wins but I wish he had more conviction and passion.

Boswell is the one DemocRAT pock mark on an otherwise totally-Republican House delegation from Iowa. (Jim Leach is a lousy RINO but, that's another thread.)

There are some meat-packing towns in Iowa which have recently been overrun by immigrants from the nation to our south (and I don't mean Missouri ;O). This lil' revelation about Boswell would not be well-received in those previously-quiet-and-crime-free Iowa towns.

Stan Thompson seems like a great guy who is saddled with less-than-dynamic impromptu speaking abilities. Unfortunately, that's usually enough to ensure defeat these days.
