What goes through a man's mind as he is forced to kneel, hands bound and blindfolded while a group of terrorists stand behind him? Terrorists he has never met nor harmed, but who have targeted him for no other reason than being an American worker in Iraq.
What would go through your mind as you hear one of your captors screech out a diatribe in Arabic over your shoulder, not knowing what he is saying, but certainly understanding the anger and defiance in his tone? You simply understand that you are going to die for no other crime than being in the wrong place at the wrong time.
Asking why me, thinking of your family back home and praying for God's grace, the anxiety builds and your heart and veins pump a concoction of adrenaline and life throughout your body, preparing you for the end you wish you could simply wakeup from. Then as the final words are spoken, these animals end your life in one of the most violent and brutal scenes ever captured on film and broadcast it around the world for all to witness.
These were the final moments of Eugene Armstrong and Jack Henley's lives, human beings trying to help the people of Iraq rebuild their country and their lives. Men who did not deserve any of this, but who will now forever be remembered as martyrs in the War on Terror.
While all of this chaos was happening in what we wish was another barbaric time and place, back home in America we are in the midst of a Presidential election that will forever dictate how terrorism affects the world in which we live. Future generations of Americans will undoubtedly feel the ripples of this election, for better or for worse.
Mr. Kerry appears to be severely lacking in the ability to see the forest for the trees. Having dusted off his Vietnam-era playbook, Mr. Kerry is once again showing the type of resolve that emboldens the enemy and erodes support at home. So desperate to attain power, Mr. Kerry's rhetoric has ensured that more innocent people will die because the enemy perceives a chink in America's armor. Drive a car bomb through that opening, and America will go home with its tail between its legs, just like it did in Vietnam. The resulting affect will give terrorists a green light to kill any time they perceive a need, which will be often.
If technology was like it is today during Vietnam, can't you just see American POW's at the Hanoi Hilton being paraded around on camera, pleading for their lives while being tortured and murdered. Evil is ever present in this world and takes on familiar and unfamiliar forms. We must either stand up to it or forever be held captive by its power.
In trying times such as these, Country must come before Party. That was the crux of Zell Miller's address at the Republican National Convention. Mr. Kerry, why not serve to inspire the American people by taking politics out of the war on Iraq? Invite Mr. Bush and his administration to meet with you and your advisors to discuss other options for the war. Saying you'd have done everything in Iraq differently serves no purpose but yours and the terrorists. Dividing the country and showing America's underbelly to the terrorists is unbecoming of a Senator and would-be President. A leader must inspire those who serve, not make them question their mission. Can you imagine Churchill, FDR or Patton muttering the words Mr. Kerry has spoken of late? If they had, we would probably all be speaking German.
Eugene Armstrong and Jack Henley's executions were a horrific reminder of the type of people we are fighting. They will do anything, from killing innocent children, as they did in Beslan, to beheading an innocent man for the entire world to see. Right now, the world needs leaders who can stand-up and be counted on, not rhetoric-laden ballerinas who are searching for a sound byte instead of a solution.
Mr. Kerry, the sad reality of the world we now inhabit is that more people are going to die in Iraq and around the world, probably even here on American soil, because these terrorists do not value human life. The terrorists will do whatever they must to ensure victory, and we need, no, America deserves a leader who will have the courage to stand up and fight, especially when the road beneath his feet is not paved. Thank you Mr. Kerry for your service to this great nation, but you have proven by your career in the United States Senate and recent demoralizing rhetoric that you are not that leader.

Excellent, excellent points. John Kerry was a traitor in the 70's, he'll continue to be a traitor in future years. Whoever that was that took the video of Kerry walking around in Vietnam during the war should have got some video of his self-admitted war crimes. How about some video of Kerry raping a Vietnamese woman? Or cutting off some heads? Shooting a fleeing teen in the back? Wonder how many votes he would get after that.
