Why are you yelling at me? All I said was that I was a Conservative and already you are screaming. Yes, my mother is African American. Yes, my father is Jewish. Yes, I am Atheist. Yes, I am in college. I know all stereotypes point to me being a Liberal, but I'm not.
My Conservatism goes beyond the petty stereotypes. Yes, I am the son of a Black and a Jew and turned out to be an Atheist in college, but that doesn’t define me. First and foremost, I am a person, a human being like everyone else. When you stereotype me, you show me why I am proud to be Conservative. Apparently the Liberal beliefs instill discrimination into the minds of its followers. Conservatism, however, lets me believe what I want to believe.
Everyone is entitled to their own freedoms and should be allowed to live their lives how they want as long as it does not conflict with another's freedoms. Yes, this means I should be able to keep the money I earn from a job. You want to take the money I earn and give it to people who do not contribute to the country, let alone work for their own well-being. You want to take the money from the upper class and give it to the lower class, but did you stop to think about what the upper class does for the lower class? Did you stop to think that the upper class is actually made up of people and not just money? Upper class citizens are people to, but you yell at me because you believe a lower class citizen is more of a person than an upper class citizen.
My mother's, and therefore my, people are suffering because of people who think like me? There are more black men in jail than in college? I do not look at race. They are people and they committed crimes. They are where they belong. If you feel so strongly about the issue than you should build a college and open it up to black criminals. When you do that, I will personally come shake your hand and tell you what a good deed you are doing for the people, but until you do that, do not criticize my beliefs.
My father is Jewish and therefore I should inherently be a Liberal? What kind of nonsense is that? Why must you resort to using stereotypes? We already went over this. Religion/race/sex/lifestyle/etc. all come after us being people. You have to stop looking at the petty things and realize that by stereotyping me and anyone else you just make yourself look ignorant. What? You aren't trying to say that? Then rephrase what you are saying. Oh? Never mind that issue, you say? Easy enough.
I know that a lot of beliefs held by the people I support stem from their religious backgrounds. That does not affect me in any way. Their religious beliefs do not determine my stance. I support them because their beliefs, with religion aside, agree with mine. Most religious principles are merely moral guidelines, anyway. I have my morals and you have yours. I do not need to be a Christian to agree with someone who is a Christian.
Of course my college is surrounded by liberals, and I do respect them and their beliefs. Almost every day I see a "Vote Kerry" sticker or something bashing Bush, but I do not let it bother me. Their opinions are their own. I do not blindly follow the herd. It makes no sense to me to just agree with them. They try to make points to me, but they more often than not have no logic behind their argument. Emotion is normally the overriding factor in their arguments.
I told you why I believe what I believe, but you still don't understand. You are letting your emotion get to you and now all you can do is insult me as a person. I am stupid because I do not believe what you believe? No? That's not it? It must be that I think for myself because everything you say I have heard before. Since I am the first Conservative to have the patience to listen to you slander me, I must thank you for showing me why I believe what I believe.
