Drudge has that headline blaring across his page. Is he trying to hurt Bush by headlining it like that or am I being paranoid towards any media.

Since you would appear top posit yourself as a Roman Catholic, you should be aware that indeed God does both reward & punish. The increasing weather related disasters are no accident. They are indeed part of god's judgement upon this nation for its sins of abortion and numerous misuses of human sexuality - and in particular for formenting the widespread abuse of homosexuality.

The sources for this are in scripture......you know the BIBLE? It's that big dusty book you seemingly do not read. And we also have the voluminous testimony or private prophecy/revelation - which I know you do not believe in.

It would seem that those messages are increasing in quantity and severity as the times grow more desperate......and as man listens less and less to God!

What is "formenting"? That word is not in my Funk and Wagnalls.

As for "God's judgment", do you agree with Robertson and Falwell that rampant homosexuality is the reason for 9/11?

If God is punishing homosexuals with hurricanes, what proportion of the population of Florida is gay versus the rest of the country? Are there four times as many homosexuals?

God rewards and punishes, to be sure. But you, like Robertson, have decided to use God for your own purposes.

You have no idea whether 09/11 was a punishment or not, but it fits your perverted idea of a god who visits death and destruction on 3,000 innocent men and women, fathers and mothers and brothers and sisters, just doing their jobs.

Is America to blame for 9/11? Or are radical, whacked-out Muslims to blame?

If you do not know the meaning of the word "formenting" then you either did not go to college, or you were not awake.

Now, now......there, there, my little Sinkspur....try to grasp the meaning from the....watch now - this is a BIG word.......CONTEXT!

"As for "God's judgment", do you agree with Robertson and Falwell that rampant homosexuality is the reason for 9/11? "

Most certainly YES. God punishes men for their sins. And when God punishes man as a group he "Causes the rain to fall on both the just and the unjust". And God uses evil men for His purposes - He lifts His protective hand, and allows them to strike those whom He would allow to be punished

"If God is punishing homosexuals with hurricanes, what proportion of the population of Florida is gay versus the rest of the country? Are there four times as many homosexuals? "

Let's try this again: when God chastises man, he sends His judgements upon both the just and unjust alike. It is His way. Try reading scripture.........or at least history!

"You have no idea whether 09/11 was a punishment or not, but it fits your perverted idea of a god who visits death and destruction on 3,000 innocent men and women, fathers and mothers and brothers and sisters, just doing their jobs."

All human tragedy/misery is a judgement from God. It is trial and test for some; for others it is punishment in and of itself. The innocent are made to suffer along with the guilty. And, in a most absolute sense, there is no such things as an innocent man, in the Christian understanding of the word. For ALL have sinned - ALL have fallen short of the glory of God.

Perhaps you forget that in the eternal will of God, you are alloted only a specific amount of time on earth. No more, no less. Remember that Jesus dude? He told us that a man cannot add one minute to his life. So perhaps, that day and time was the day and time which God had willed from all eternity, for those souls to end their earthly journey.

Don't believe this Traditionalist Catholic? OK.....then go and ask a good Baptist or other evangelical Christian. They will tell you ...straight up......blunt....."in yo face" about what it is, with no regrets or apologies!

Please try reading scripture....you know....the BIBLE??? Its that dusty book you just have on your shelf for show.

Then perhaps you would know and be able to better serve the God whom Roman Catholics - and all good Christians - adore and love.

I notice whenever you have trouble, you always call in your trad cavalry.

Let me disabuse you of your erroneous notion:

There is no such word as "formenting."

I gave you the benefit of the doubt that you had simply mistyped "foment", but you stuck your chest out and insisted that you were correct and threw out "formenting" as a word.

There is "fomenting" and "ferminting," but no "formenting."

I didn't read another word you posted. You imply that I'm ignorant, yet you don't even know when you've made a total fool of yourself.

You're in good company with the evangelicals, who see God punishing behind every tornado, every car wreck, every ingrown toenail, every case of the heartbreak of psoriasis.

Do you have a computer program that keeps up with all of these punishments? How do you have time to post here with all of this retribution raining down?

That literal interpretation of the Scripture will do that to you, every time.

This may come as a shock to you, but the English language grows every day. There are new words - and new usages & meanings for existing ones created all the time.

The word "formenting" is neither a mispelling, nor an invention of mine. It has been in use for quite some time by a variety of authors.

But semantic nonesense like this distracts from the fact that you do not understand the ways and things of God.

Robertson is a complete fraud; a real con man and manipulator. He saw at an early age the huge opportunities available to use televison to rake in contributions by selling "snake oil", "prosperity gospel" religion and his own brand of so-called faith healing instead of solid Bible-based preaching.

Find "formenting", in any dictionary on the web, and provide the link. I'll wait.

Why on earth should I bother doing that? I know it is a word, I have seen it in print many times before.......and for what: to please you?

Rather, it would be of great profit to you to search for Christ. He will be found among the other things in the "lost& found" of your soul - like the seven gifts of the Holy Spirit.

He is gently knocking upon the door to your heart......but you have turned off your hearing aid.

Christ says there is no such word as "formenting."

He also says (and I'm doing my best Pat Robertson imitation here) that you have never seen "formenting" in print.

When I'm wrong, I admit it, thor.

A man who cannot admit a mistake when he's clearly made one ain't worth taking seriously on anything.

I see. Then you will not mind admitting here, publicly, the ways you have viscously insulted me, ALbiongirl, broadsword, sdsurfer........and have done your concerted best to get all Traditionalist Catholic posters banned from here?

Exactly what right do think you have to act in such an obvious un-Catholic/unChristian manner via your repeated attacks - which are obviously against the rules of this forum, and of common decency?

You make the claim that you are a deacon. Well, you are certainly not setting a very fine example here!

If there were lurkers on here who were considering the possibility of conversion to the Catholic Church, you would not exactly be someone whom they would wish to emulate - much less be in the same boat with.

A question: exactly whom do you think you are? Perhaps a better question might be: who is paying for you to to be here and cause disruption and spew dissent against Church teachings?

If there are lurkers thinking about coming into the Church, they're not going to follow a poster who makes up words, then insists he's read that word used "by many authors." This is especially true, since that poster cannot post one single link to any of those authors, or any dictionary that defines "forment."

A question: exactly whom do you think you are? Perhaps a better question might be: who is paying for you to to be here and cause disruption and spew dissent against Church teachings?

Four years ago, before you ever darkened the door of Free Republic, we had a slew of posters who accused a few of us pro-Bush posters of being plants, paid by the GOP to take out Pat Buchanan.

It was all nonsense, of course, but, here you are, wandering down the same halls of paranoid conspiracy.

Thor76, I've run across I don't know how many people like you in my six years here. They come, they go.

I'm still here. I don't "spew" dissent against Church teachings. I disagree with mandatory celibacy, but, as you know, that is not a teaching; it is a discipline.

You, for some reason, fancy yourself a father-confessor to the trad sycophants who trail you like puppies. You have some good things to say, but it is always couched in an attack against the Church, against John Paul II's practice, against Vatican II.

"Fomenting" dissension is your specialty.

I've insulted nobody, intentionally. If I insulted anybody unintentionally, I apologize.

sdsurfer put up a ridiculous screed yesterday, attacking "Modern Catholics." Jim Robinson himself took it down.

I'll do whatever shaping up I need to do, but I'm not the only one with warts in the Catholic caucus.

At one point Robertson told his audience that God told him Bush would win by a landslide. Recently he said Bush would win by a thin margin.

Can it be that God doesn't know His own mind? Or is Pat Robertson needing to go on some medication?
